Is there a way to add Google Photos link to the post?

I want to post and directly add a photo from Google Photos instead to download then upload. I cannot post a Google Photos link of my photo, is there an enhancement in the works for this?

Hi @sqwanderer

Thank you for asking. Yes of course, you can embed a photo from Google Photos here in Connect going through an HTML tag.

Just remember to share the photo as “public” first, otherwise you will be the only one able to see your photo.

For the detailed procedure please read: Tips for Uploading Images to Connect to Stay Within Limit

Not sure if this has been shared before. I’m an avid photo taker and love posting and I store all my photos in Google Photos but I noticed I cannot share directly via url link or copy and paste. I have to download then upload. This is more a desktop thing but also I use another phone where I did not take these pics. Can we add this feature?

Hi @sqwanderer ,

Thanks for reaching out to us and welcome to Connect! I am glad to see you already received a very helpful answer from @ErmesT ! :slightly_smiling_face:

I also wanted to let you know that I merged your posts together here, since you posted twice the same content. Asyou joined recently, to know more about the forum, you may want to start Your guide to Connect.

The function I shared with you in my previous reply is available on desktop only, @sqwanderer

That’s why, times ago, I wanted to suggest an improved function: a Tool for embedding photos from other Google products

The idea is actually closed, but you can comment in there

Thanks for the tip! Forgot it was in private setting.

I created a new album in Google Photos, created a link, added the link and still rejects the link. Also the link shows the entire album and not an individual photo, which is the original intention for my post. I must be doing something wrong.

I see that I have to do lots of clicks plus HTML to get the post to work as intended. Bah!

I agree that is not an easy procedure, @sqwanderer , but it works

I have automated one of the steps using a macro (the function is available in Connect)

  • Select the photo you want to share and make it public (the photo, not the album)
  • Click on the preview to open your photo on the screen
  • Right click over the photo and "copy the image URL
  • create the HTML tag and past your photo URL in there

Here below is the photo. It is a 12.2MP, 4032 Ă— 3024, 3.8 MB

identifier.html (769 KB)

Thanks, Ernest! I managed to create a post with pics embedded. More work than I like but we’re good now.
