Have you ever visited the graveyard for sightseeing? To me, it was weird but the guidebook said that you should visit Mirogoj cemetery when you have time in Zagreb. I’m not sure if I can take some pics there or not…but here you go.
In Japan, the graveyard has kind of scary atmosphere which I don’t want to visit there for sightseeing, but here it looks nice and beautiful somehow. But I tried not to take many pics.lol
@renata1 Thank you for tagging me for this post. Really I am not a fond of walking round the cemeteries, but sometimes excursions there can be very educational. One of such places I may notice is Lvov Lychakivs’ki Cemetery. had extremely changed my view to cemeteries.
This cemetery is built in Austro-Hungarian period and maybe even earlier, now it’s known as one of the oldest cemeteries of Europe. It works as cemetery till now, but it’s also a museum-reserve now. Many famous people are buried here, and many famous sculptors made monuments to glorify their memory.
In Minsk I may mention not so well-known cemetery: Military cemetery, where many famous people of Belarus are buried. It’s not so prosperous as Lychakivs’ki Cemetery, but it’s small and cosy. Here one of the most ancient churches of Minsk is situated, it is saved in it’s initial state and it’s the only Minsk church which worked and wasn’t closed during all Soviet period.
