Interesting Italian

I only really like to post things that I really like. But it’s worth sometimes putting things out there to see if other people have the same experience .

Restaurant: Pizzeria Gundeli casino. Tellplatz 6. BASEL

Nice restaurant to look at from the outside. Interesting interior design and choice of colours. Lots of Italian dishes to choose from, and an average selection of wines. I couldn’t really make out the atmosphere. There weren’t many people dining but most of the tables were older men and only a few women. Maybe it’s a “locals place”. The waiter wasn’t really engaging either, so I didn’t really get a welcoming vibe. Anyways… I arrived around 21:20, it was towards the end of the night. (Not really an excuse).

The pizza arrived in good time and it was very tasty. Pizza Fungi. There was chilli oil on the table so I added some to the pizza. The rose wine complimented the pizza nicely. I didn’t have dessert, but a gentleman across from me had ice cream which looked good.

Hi @Anneka ,

I do agree with you that the pizza looks good, and I think you made a great choice. Not super convinced about the other choices that the menu offered. I have noticed from my experience that many restaurants abroad are doing decent pizzas, the key is in the quality on the ingredients, the skills of the chef but most importantly in the type of hoven in which are cooked. Stone bake cooking is still the best, as it gets to the perfect temperature.
