Indianapolis Canal Walk, The Venice Canal of America?

No doubt this is my favorite place in Indianapolis. I wanted to go back here many, many times as I can. If it’s not only a 2-hour long drive, I would visit it everyday. The ambiance of the place is a combination of nature and architecture. Who wouldn’t want to stroll in the Indianapolis Canal Walk given this view below?

So how did it all start? In 1800s, New York’s Erie Canal was the inspiration to create a canal in Indianapolis that will improve travel and trade but the Canal was not finished because the State of Indiana went bankrupt. Not until 1980s when the city began to restore the canal which was completed on 2001. And today, Indianapolis Canal Walk is one of the main attractions in the city and state of Indiana.
