Hello Local Guides!
Barcelona Useful is a new series of practical neighbourhood meet-ups designed to make Google Maps more accurate, accessible and genuinely helpful through first-hand observation.
For this first edition, we will explore Gràcia on a two-hour walking mapathon. We will meet beside the clock tower in Plaça de la Vila de Gràcia at 11:00 and finish around 13:00 at Plaça del Diamant.
Our route will include the Mercat de la Llibertat, Plaça del Sol, Biblioteca Vila de Gràcia, Carrer de Verdi, Cinemes Verdi and the air-raid shelter beneath Plaça del Diamant.
During the walk, we will work individually or in small teams to:
-
Verify useful information such as locations, categories, opening hours and entrances.
-
Document accessibility details, including step-free access, seating and accessible facilities.
-
Take clear and useful photographs of façades, entrances and services.
-
Identify outdated information or places missing from Google Maps.
-
Share local knowledge that can help residents and visitors make better decisions.
No previous experience is required. Nobody will be asked to rate or review a place. Every contribution must be based on direct observation or personal experience, and we will avoid disturbing businesses or photographing people without permission.
Please bring a charged phone, comfortable shoes and, if possible, a portable battery. The meet-up is free. Any food, drinks or purchases are optional and paid individually.
Languages: Spanish and English. Catalan is also welcome.
Resumen en español: realizaremos una ruta gratuita por Gràcia para comprobar información, documentar accesibilidad, detectar datos desactualizados y crear fotografías útiles para Google Maps. No es necesario tener experiencia previa.
Join us, meet other Local Guides and help make Barcelona more useful for everyone!
