Let’s Fix the Map: Improving Google Maps in Phnom Penh

Location: A coffee space in Phnom Penh (TBD – seeking a sponsor)
Participants: Maximum 10 people

Purpose

This meetup is part of the Google Local Guides community program.
Our goal is to improve the accuracy and quality of Google Maps in Phnom Penh by:

  • Fixing incorrect place names
  • Updating business categories and contact info
  • Removing duplicate or closed places
  • Adding missing or unclaimed locations
  • Discussing Khmer-English name display challenges

Event Schedule

9:00 AM – Welcome and introduction
9:30 AM – Briefing on how to improve the map
10:00 AM – Hands-on live editing session using Google Maps
11:00 AM – Group discussion and sharing
11:30 AM – Group photo and informal networking
12:00 PM – End of event

What to Bring

  • Smartphone/Laptop with the Google Maps app installed
  • Power bank
  • Enthusiasm to contribute and learn

This is a free, non-commercial, community-led event.
We welcome local coffee shops or spaces to support by offering a venue or refreshments. No reviews or edits will be exchanged for sponsorship.
