Dear Local Guides,
The month of Bengali’s living language began on February 1. February 21 is a special day for Bengali-speaking people. On this day in 1952, many people gave their lives for the Bengali language. On November 17, 1999, the United Nations announced that International Mother Language Day would be observed worldwide on February 21 every year. Since February 21, 2000, the day has been celebrated with due respect in UN member states. Various programs and events have been observed around the month of languages since the beginning of this month.
The main attraction of this month is the Amar Ekushey Book Fair. Amar Ekushey Book Fair ( Eternal Twenty-first Book Fair) is the fair of our lives. Among the thousands of fairs in Bangladesh, the book fair is the most important. For a long time, our literature and intellectual development has been mainly centered around this fair. The language, cultural understanding and tradition of Bengalis are the basis of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair. We know the Book Fair festival held every year from February 1 to February 28 at the Bangla Academy premises as the Book Fair.
Like every year, we are going to organize a meet-up this year to spread the word about this book fair among local guides around the world.
This meet-up is open to everyone, no registration is required. Therefore, I request everyone to be present on time. You are requested to wear a Bangladesh Local Guides T-shirt. If you are interested to join with us, please inbox me @SanjayBDLG or contact on the Bangladesh Local Guide Facebook group. Three people can receive a surprise gift by randomly selecting from among the local guides present at the meet-up.
