[In-Person] Bangladesh, December 25, One Map at a time

If you’re passionate about mapping and happen to be around Cox’s Bazar, let’s meet up for an informal gathering to connect and share our experiences! Together, we can contribute to the community of the world’s longest sea beach and its visitors of the town.

If you arrive a little early, we can even enjoy the sunset together. And if anyone wishes to share their unique talents or skills, that would be a wonderful bonus for our fellow mappers.
Looking forward to meeting you and making a positive impact one map at a time!

Dear Fellow Google Maps Local guides in Cox’s Bazar, happy to share following meet up event with you. I am pleased to assist Russell Chowdhury in making the event a success.

Last couple of weeks we consulted the map and have found that

  • many places are missing, and or with wrong tagging e.g. a road is private but tagged as public, or closed already, a restaurant tagged as garden etc.
  • lack of information in the google map for which potential tourists have need e.g. safety and security information, access, disability friendliness etc.
  • Places with scenic value lacks good review.
  • Few places are tagged within the protected forest might convey wrong message to the tourists and attract non-aware tourists and potentially cause damage to the forest and biodiversity.

We plan to discuss this and with all interested #localguidesconnect to develop a plan of action for one year with clear objectives to address the above challenges.

Please join us with all good suggestions.
