Hello everyone

I’m a Local Guide with about 1.8 million photo views , mostly outside Syria

I recently returned to Syria and noticed that map data here is outdated or inaccurate

Previously, contributions from Syria were limited due to Google service restrictions, so I’m just starting to contribute locally

I’d really like to help improve Google Maps for Syria — to support my country and make it more accurate and visible for everyone

Is there any way for Local Guides here to help or coordinate such efforts ?

However, if you face any problem, you can tag any Googlers or Connect moderators, and they will help you. You can also tag me if you want. I will try my best to help.

You can always start cleaning up and adding new places. @JanVanHaver organized a project on cleaning the map. Learn more here.

You might also be able to get fellow countrymen/countrywomen engaged in such efforts.

But if you were hoping to get some special editing power (helping you get edits approved quicker or more easily), there is not a lot of help available to you.

You may want to reach out to https://www.localguidesconnect.com/u/SophatCHY/activity/topics who has been eagerly running a project about date intregerty on Maps in Cambodia. I think his experiences could be useful for you. Maybe this discussion can help you.

And in this reply I explained how local authorities can collaborate with Google Maps to bulk correct and update Maps data.

Please see Supported countries/regions - Google Business Profile Help

At the bottom, you can see Syria listed as a country where the businesses are not properly supported. So you need to carefully evaluate if it is even possible for now to make the improvements you wanted. It is a strong indication that Google Maps is currently not well supported in your country.
