Welcome to the new connect mates. We are all very excited about a new and improved connect forum. There is so much to explore and enjoy. I love exploring and learning new things. I feel it’s always necessary to know the rules of the game and participate according. Well maybe I know them already. It’s also good to be reminded about them.Please feel free to read more on The 5 core values of connect.

The Local guides program
Now regarding the local guides program itself. Do you know the rules and regulations? It will be helpful to know. That will help you to avoid suspension or even a total ban from the local guides program. It is not a nice experience,although I have never gone through it. I know a few local guides who have gone through that.
Knowing the rules and regulations also help you to make your contributions good and live all the time. What use is it adding a blurry and dark photo? What use is it,posting a selfie of yourself or your family group shot on the maps? The AI will always make it private (We hope). Others like me will always report it when it’s discovered. So it’s good to know what contributions are required and helpful as a local guide for improving Google Maps.

- …that there is an age requirement for local guides.
- It depends largely on the country as stated below. Age requirements on Google Accounts. Who is qualified to be a Local Guide?
In order to participate in the Program as a Local Guide, you must:
have a valid Google account;
meet the age requirements for your country;
Below are the minimum age requirements to manage your own Google Account.
Note: For younger children, parents can help create and manage a Google Account with Family Link. When a child reaches their country’s minimum age, they can manage their own account.
Find your country’s age requirement
For all countries not listed below, 13 is the minimum age to manage your own Google Account.
3. Do you know that you shouldn’t participate using double or multiple accounts? That could earn you a ban on the program.
4. Do you know that your contributions can be so useful if done correctly.
5. Do you know that your contributions can influence your world for good.
6. As a local guide,you can also organise a meeting(Meet-up) with fellow local guides to interact learn and even educate them on Google maps and about the local guide program. Please read more Local guides rules and requirements
