Hello, local guides! Well, I’ve had some time to do some spring cleaning for my hard disk and found some images of Melaka which I took just before the Covid-19 lockdown in 2019. They are random and taken all over the main tourist area of Melaka (Malacca) and also around the main Jonker Walk area.
For anyone who has not been here or has plans to visit Malaysia’s oldest historical city, this is probably 1% of what can be seen all over Melaka. And if you did not already know, Melaka is my second home after Kuala Lumpur. I hope you like these photos too and await your comments.
Amazing photos @MalaysiaAsia I love the photos in this post very much. Especially the first and second and the second one. Thanks for sharing this nice post here with us. You can change the category of this post from Travel to Photography. I think that fits more for this post. Stay safe. Regards.
Beautiful post @MalaysiaAsia ,your post about Melaka makes me want to grab my backpack and hit the airport heading to Malaysia.
Because before we had a virtual tour of Melaka by my brother @StephenAbraham some months ago in Local Guides Virtual meet-up, and that time I promised by myself that whenever I will visit again Malaysia, my mostly stay will be in Melaka. Thanks to Stephen bhai. And now thanks to you to share wonderful post about Melaka.
@Nyainurjanah Hiya and apa kabar? Thank you for the kind words and yes, we were and still are jiran. I went to Palembang a couple of years ago and visited the national museum there and to my surprise, they had a special section or area dedicated to Melaka. This, of course, was a cross-promotion among the two museums, the one in Palembang and the one in Melaka. So you could imagine my surprise when I saw that.
@KashifMisidia Aww thanks so much! I wish you and everyone else could do that - grab the backpack and hit the road! I think many travellers around the world are really feeling the pinch by now and to be very honest, virtual visits don’t really do justice when you are a pure-breed traveller like me. I guess we can possibly see 2022 as the year to maybe start travelling and depending on what each countries requirements will be. This Covid19 passport thing people are talking about is also quite tricky, therefore, I hope Malaysia will be simply about visitors coming in.
Anyway, I fully agree that Melaka is one of the recommended places to visit, but if you have travelled all over Malaysia like me, you will see that there are in fact, many more beautiful towns and cities to explore. I once took 30-days off to travel the entire Peninsular Malaysia by car, moving from village-to-town-to-city in every state of the Peninsular. I did this in early 2002 way before social media was popular or even local guides, and I kind of miss those days of free-travelling. People were kind, nice and genuine without having to gawk at their smartphones all the time. Well, as technology advances, I find that there are more negatives than positives, but I guess it could be just me due to the fact that I grew up in the 80s and 90s minus tech. Well, on a good note, travel has and will always be in my blood, and I’m sure in many others and will never die off.
Malaysia and Indonesia have plenty things in similarity. Especially in culture than inheritage from one generation other generation. I can see it when I have a journey through Siak river.
@BudiFXW Hello Pak Budi, thanks and yes, at least we have a common understanding among our countries which is good. How is Palembang? I actually miss the Pindang on the boats near the Ampera Bridge.
Oh, by the way, I also recently did an article about Palembang Food and you can have a look at it to see if it is ok? Appreciate any feedback on that.
