Starting around December 13, 2024, any images I upload via the Google Maps app on my Android (Google Pixel 8 Pro with Android 15) fail to appear. The uploads seem to be working fine, but they simply never show up in Maps. When I upload videos, they appear as expected. I tried using a different Google account to upload an image, and it appeared right away. I tried adding an image via Chrome on my Windows laptop and the images appeared as expected. I tried uploading from OneDrive and from Google Photos using the affected Google Maps account, but no images from either source are working. I cleared all local data and cache in Google Maps on my phone, but that made no difference.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what else I could try to resolve this issue? I just went on a trip and I have a lot of photos to upload. ![ ](https://d3jcy3iryfc449.cloudfront.net/images/emoji/google/pray.png?v=12)

Thanks for the reply!
I’ve seen a small delay in images appearing in the past as well, but never has it taken 3 weeks for images to appear.

Hello @JaredLivingston !
I am so happy that I found your post… I’ve been having an exact same problem since the end of December and it’s continuing on right through today.
My major issue appears to be the photo uploads… if I upload them directly from my mobile phone (Samsung Galaxy S10 also on Android), they successfully post 10% of the time. If I use my Google Photos app to try and add them to Maps, they successfully post about 50% of the time.
I have wasted so much time going back and deleting duplicate photos, because I tried to upload them and they never work and then maybe a few days later they appear.
I have also noticed a drastic change in the app performance itself…it continually freezes, or is very slow in responding to any action I make, especially edits and photo posts.

Are @JaredLivingston and I the only Google Local Guides that have reported this problem? Can any of you Local Guides Gods provide any insight?
Thanks so much for all of your help!

Thanks for the tag, @SamanthaSheehy. I can’t say I’m having upload issues, but I have a couple of photos that don’t show any views yet.
@JaredLivingston, are you just seeing gray squares when you look at your contributions, or are you not seeing any photo views on your newer pictures? In other words, how do you know the photos are not appearing? Your maps profile is private, so I’m unable to check your contributions for any possible guideline issues or tell you the last image I see as a visitor.
@JustJake I made my profile public (the spam followers were driving me nuts, so I switched to restricted a while back). Please let me know if you notice any problems, and thank you very much for your help! @SamanthaSheehy

I thought I had found a workaround by posting images as updates to the locations in Google Maps. That method stopped working as well. Posting videos works just fine, but I still can’t add images via the app. Here is what I see when I viewed a photo update I made yesterday to a local business.

I understand about the spam follower issue, @JaredLivingston, you can go private again if you’d like. I don’t see anything that would raise concerns about your profile. You post great photos! The only thing you could review is the duplicate posts at Cerveceria Jules, which are likely the result of your images seeming not to load.
Otherwise, I’d suggest the basics: reboot the phone, clear the app cache, check for app updates, send feedback in the app, and possibly uninstall/reinstall Maps.
If all else fails, throw the issue on the Maps Help Community board. The folks there suggest they have access to the Maps team to help resolve issues.
Good luck, man. I’m sorry you’re stuck, but it shouldn’t be a long-lasting issue. Maps needs those photos! @SamanthaSheehy, you still having the problem?
