This Is the fountain of Neptune. It’s in Bologna, and is also called ‘The Giant’, in italian ‘Il Gigante’. Its waters come from the hills around the town. It was built in 1566. You should take a picture here, with some pidgeons on your shoulders, when your come to Bologna!
Thanks for sharing @Leonarda . Bologna is a beautiful city.

Best wishes.
Thanks for sharing @Leonarda !
I’ve been thinking about driving through Italy on my own some day to experience som of the less touristic cities.
What time of year would you suggest visiting Bologna if you would like to avoid the high season? Can you recommend anything that first time visitors just have to see?
Well, Bologna Is a small city famous for food, bolognese ragù , lasagna and tagliatelle…! And more. You can combine good food and visit many medieval monuments , discovering that despite the sea is far away the city was built on hidden waterways. I suggest visiting Two Towers, Neptune fountain and Church of San Petronio, Sala Borsa, Mambo Museum of modern art and take a walk to Sanctuary of San Luca (Portico Is a 4 km walking tour).
Thanks for all the suggestions @Leonarda !
It sounds like you just made my itinerary. I will add all of these places to my list and hopefully I will be visiting within the next couple of years.
I think the food is what I enjoy the most about Italy. It think it’s fascinating how every city or region has a signature dish that they do better than the rest.
