Hello people,
This post is for all those who are willing to visit the only IKEA Store in Hyderabad in India.
This store had a mega opening in August, 2018. The day of opening attracted an unusually high foot fall, correlated with extreme traffic jam on both the sides of the roads near the store as you can see in the picture. I was waiting this hype to cool down a bit before I visit the store. and it dawned on me two days back. I am sharing a little something of what I experienced. Do have a read and do share your views.
How to reach:
You can either drive down to the store, it has a good facility of parking or simply take a cab. If you are going by metro, Hitech city metro station would be the closest and then you can take an auto.
What to expect:
-
You can expect to be confused at the circulating entrance door. I saw a family of three: mom, dad and daughter almost getting hit by it. Let’s be honest here, India is a developing country and we are not used to very fancy interiors around us, including but not limited to automatic doors. Even today, we see people tripping on escalators in malls.
-
As soon as you enter, you will see a lot of stuff lying around, and I mean it literally. The whole space has been used quite efficiently or we can call it a smart way of marketing. Show same things again and again to the buyer, that she ends up buying by the end of her visit.
For example: The space between the two escalators at the entrance has been used to keep small dish washing sponges. So, even while you are just climbing to the first floor, you will be reminded that you need to replace the current sponge in your kitchen, might as well pick it up.
-
The smart house: I find these house’s interiors extremely efficient, properly spaced, very beautiful and also, quite expensive. They can get you a pseudo wall in your drawing room, a cute kid’s bed next to your double bed. A smart closet, a comfortable sofa, and a guest bed which can be converted into a sofa. If you don’t want to re- decorate your whole house, you can also just focus on single rooms like ready made kids room or kitchen etc.
-
The whole floor offers a good combination of very simple yet classic furniture items: closets, sofas, tables, cushions, bunker beds,
-
Move one floor down and get ready for a seemingly never ending maze filled with kitchen utensils, bed linings, cushions, stationery items, lamps, crockeries, photo frames, candles, potpourri and what not. The price range varies from very cheap to very expensive, but so does the variety. I found some good deals on kitchen utensils like non stick frying pans, tawas, potpourri, toiletries’s cases/holders, towels, carpets and candles.
I was not looking to purchase any furniture personally, but there was a wide variety in that category too, from metal stools to wooden rocking chairs.
- Come out of this charade and treat yourself with good food in the restaurant or just grab a quick bite at the cafe near the billing counter. Whilst the restaurant has huge spread to offer, the cafe has only quick bites. You can take a cinnamon bun, or a cheese bread or a French heart or an oats cookie with unlimited refills of coffee. This will definitely refill energy in your drained out body after the LONG WALK in the store.
That is it
That is all about my experience guys, do share in comment what you think about it, and do add if I have missed something.
I say it is a definitely must try experience.
