Idiyappam
Traditional Kerala breakfast known as Idiyappam or Noolputtu or Spring hoppers
Recipe for 10 numbers
Ingredients;
Roasted rice flour 1.5 cup
Hot water -1 to 1.5 cup
Grated coconut - 1 cup
Salt - as per requirement
Process;
Mix the roasted rice flour and salt along with hot water .Knead together until we get a soft and smooth dough.Be careful not to allow the dough to be too sticky or rough
Take small portions of dough and press each through the idiyappam presser on to idli moulds. It shouldbe greased with oil and grated coconut to be garnished on the same so that the pressed idiyappam is on the grated coconut s which gives a special taste.
Keep the idli moulds on the steamer ,close and steam for max 7 to 8 minutes in medium flame. Leave the steamer to the cool before opening the lid.Transfer Idiyappam to plates and serve it hot with Vegetable stew/Chicken /Egg roast
