Hello google banned me for no reason my reviews are not visible. I don’t know why google banned me they didn’t gave any reason or any email. I didn’t did anything i am 100% sure its the negative review i gave. That review is only not visible and i am banned. The system that banned me is the culprits maybe the owner told more than 100 people to report me they got monetary benefits and than the system banned me automatically without checking. Please unban me. I want to know the reason i am also suprised how i got banned again. After following all guidelines. Ask your other teams why i was banned and tell me the reason and if it was possible to unban me. Even my reviews are not visible to public and my full account is banned. I think the guy who is moderating is jerking off. My friends told me there was nothing to be banned. Unban me its been more than a year. Your’ll cant help. Your’ll are not taking me seriously. I will post on every post and everyday till i get unbanned. Hi Google Map Team,
I’m Linh from Vietnam - Local Guide Level 7, currently have 368 followers. The last time I received an email from Google Map was April 2. However, on April 5, I discovered that my Local Guide account was banned, lost all Local Guide points and all posts after that were hidden. Although from April 2 to April 5, I only posted restaurant reviews. I contacted Google and was instructed to post the question here.

I know the feeling of being suspended. It is not good.

Suspended local guides can find help in my tutorial called How to Get In and Out of Trouble as a Local Guide.

Remember:

  1. It might not be possible to get unsuspended
  2. It can be a lot of work cleaning up whatever mistakes were made
  3. You may need to use an incognito window/tab to view the posts in my tutorial.

I opened your Maps profile at https://www.google.com/maps/contrib/110226226466017887218 and your profile picture is not there. This is different from what I normally see on banned accounts. Also, you should not be able to write anything here on Connect while suspended.

Are your using two different accounts?

Creating a second LG account is also a violation of the guidelines. Please delete it and follow the steps in my tutorial. To reach out for help from the team (after you cleaned your contributions) should vi via the Appeals form only.

I don’t know who you contacted in Google, but they gave you some wrong information. Creating a new account to write a post here is against the program rules , and this account should be closed immediately.

All the information about how to contact the team are available in the Local Guides Help page: Why was I removed from Local Guides? Bookmark this link, and follow the instruction in there to know how to contact the Local Guides Team. "If you think you may have been wrongfully removed from the program and your account hasn’t been reinstated for more than 10 days, don’t create a new account to post on Connect. (That’s against our program rules, too.)

Instead, fill out the Appeal form, letting us know you’ve been removed. Be sure to provide us with your Google Maps profile URL so we can look into it. It can take up to three weeks to investigate banned accounts, so please be patient. Our team will reach out privately as soon as we have an update.

Hi Morten,

Thank you sir for taking time to look into my situation. I could not access Connect since my Account has been banned. I chat with Google Support this morning, and shared my situation, but they still directed me to seek help on the Local Guides Connect.
I can not access in my original account, my account is in the attached pictures. Due to being banned, I could not extract my profile link to you :cry: Moreover, the account got banned, it has never created on Connect. So the current account I am using now, is basically the 1st account I created for Connect. Hope it is okay.
In case I could not continue using this account on Connect, is there other way I connect and look for help?

It would be really helpful if you would use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply.

I’m happy that you find my suspension tutorial helpful. It is also great that you figured out how to share your Maps profile URL.

Generally, your photos are well lit and pretty good. Maybe you should focus on not sharing redundant (similar photos). You holding a brown drink is one such example.

Since you just made a lot of changes all the numbers are unlikely to be updated as of now. But it looks like quite a few of your reviews are hidden. Be careful not to have text and headings repeated across your reviews. The spam filter is very sensitive to any repeated text.

I’m not sure why you are using ALL CAPS at the beginning of each review. From looking at reviews from other Local Guides you may be aware that the first 1-2 lines are already a kind of heading since the rest of the text is truncated.

You are also adding text like this:

Advertizing your IG and FB might also be triggering the spam filter. Do you share the same reviews on other platforms also? That might also trigger the filter for plagiarism.

It looks like you are including your own translations. This is not necessary since Google offers automatic translations into the languages of the Maps users.

Lastly, I want to ask you if you are a professional reviewer of restaurants. Some of your photos look suspiciously professional. Why is there music on some of your videos? And watermark advertising?

The local guides program is not for businesses and brands.

I hope some of these observations can help you understand what problems should still be fixed before you use the appeals form.

@MortenCopenhagen Thank you for your response. I am still new on Connect, hence may other function like tagging, which I am still learning to use. I am greatly appreciated all your inputs:

  1. not sharing redundant (similar photos) → I am working on deleting redundant / similar photos as you suggest.
  2. ALL CAPS at the beginning of each review. -> It is my writing signature :sweat_smile: I am a copywriter, my full-time job is Digital Marketer so it is a habit. I am not sure if it against the Local Guide Policy. Should I remove ALL CAPS texts before sending the appeal?
  3. You are also adding text like this: → It is my footer, I put it end at every review in case other Local Guides fellas want to connect with me. In fact, I got many friend requests who have the same passion of writing reviews like me, I have a load of new friends thank to this. My other social channels like Facebook, Instagram and tiktok also have reviews, but I am selective, only places are really worth for recommendation I will share it more details. Is my footer showing other social channels are considered spamming? If it is, then I should remove it across all of my reviews right? It will be time consuming, so I just want to double check.
  4. Why is there music on some of your videos? And watermark advertising? -> Those are from tiktok and Instagram Reels, I have created short clips of my experience in that location / places, I am amatuer video editor in the past, so I still maintain this skills. The watermark is from tiktok and Instagram Reels. So I need to delete all of these videos right?

I do not mind if it take a lot of time, as long as I have a chance to win my appeal :muscle: In fact, knowing that you got suspended and recovered your Local Guide Account gives me strength and belief to appeal. I am being very sad, and heartbreaking lately, my other Local Guides fellas also feel sorry for my story :sob:

I would like to share my last activity before I got banned from the program, I am suspecting it made someone report me:

Last activity: There is a small local restaurant called “Bún Bò Bà Chánh” which is very famous in my hometown. I left a review there with 5 stars in middle of March. Despite being the restaurant’s customer over 10 years, I decided to write a review in middle of March, the time should be around Mar 23 if my memory served me right :sweat_smile: . Since this restaurant is popular, the location got a lot of positive reviews. But on Apr 2, I revisited this restaurant and tried their small size dishes. I decided to write an Update on this restaurant on Google Map. However, this restaurant got deleted from Google Map entirely. I guessed someone played trick to harm this local business. I thought it would be ashamed that this long history restaurant got removed, then no one would know this good place anymore. Because of that thought, I used “Add a place” to add back this restaurant on Google Map. After sending the request follow with a picture (showing a bowl of Bún Bò taken at the restaurant), Google Map confirmed via email as below picture that the location got accepted, link of this location: https://goo.gl/maps/mPJ2w2tkDZEDyNnp6 . After this incident, all my reviews / updates / photos got auto hidden, no points gained and got banned from Local Guide :sob:

Pic 2: After adding the new dishes I tried on Apr 2 to this location in red circle. All posts, reivews, and photos adding after that got hidden.

My investigation so far based on your helpful and insightful series, I made this findings:

  • I have total 146 reviews, but only 49 public now, which means 97 reviews are hidden
  • I have total photos and videos 1,824, but only ,1392 public now, this means 432 are hidden

→ How can I detect which one is hidden so that I could take action? What is the best way to detect and fix?

I’m happy to see that you are striving to get unsuspended with lots of effort. Fingers crossed.

This most important issue to get sorted out is related to your job as a marketing copy-writer. If you are reviewing restaurants owned by your customers, then there is a problem. Being a local guide with any bit of commercial interest is a disqualifier. It is not possible to clean your profile to fix this.

I don’t recall ALL CAPS to be a guideline for reviews. I mentioned it just because you seem more professional and organized than most local guides. I forgot to mention that long reviews are more likely to trigger the spam filer. So an easy solution would be to remove your manual translations into English. Trust me your reviews will be translated automatically.

Advertizing your IG and FB in the text reviews should be removed for 2 reasons: It is a repetitive text that the spam filer easily will detect. And I believe that such info is only allowed in your profile text on Google Maps. It will also make more sense to not be redundant.

As I remember the video rules (all the links are in my Suspension tutorial) you can not have Social Media advertisements in Google Maps videos. A single line along one edge might be ok.

After getting so many of your reviews hidden it is not uncommon that new reviews (and photos) get hidden straight away.

Please be aware that there is no guarantee you will be unsuspended. So don’t blame me if you don’t succeed.

But you are certainly on the right track. And the first appeal will likely tell you to focus more or your reviews (if not photos).

Kindly, avoid posting about your issue in other peoples threads. I see that you made your own post which is great.

I tried to merge your different replies but something went wrong. I apologize for this. I have asked the Google Moderators to fix the mess I made.

I looked briefly at your Maps profile and found that you have made very few contributions. Only 19.

It is not unusual that accounts with so few contributions are scrutinized more harshly by the spamfilter.

If you vere truly banned you would not be able to post anything here on Connect. So we can safely conclude that you are not suspended/Banned. What you describe is what normally is described as a Block was placed in your account. This is not done by humans but a trained AI spam filter. And it is Google policy never to reveal what caused such a block.

You will need to study all the guidelines and figure out what might have caused the block.

Hello @MortenCopenhagen sir i don’t know what caused the ban i didn’t used any explicit words. My review was first showing than it was taken down by Google. It showed up for 2-3 days i think the business owner told others to report my review like around 100 by giving them monetory rewards. That guy is obsessed with Google reviews. Please clean my profile whatever spam flags i am put. I cant even rate other businesses with simple star rating. There was another business i rated 5 star they thanked me but even that review is taken down by Google maps. Even my friend posted a similar review even he was banned for the negative review. Can you please remove all the things that banned and blacklisted my account? After this i couldn’t contribute anything and got banned. The owner should be banned

I’m just your Local Guides colleague without any power to clean your profile or lift the block. I have seen many cases where bans and blocks were justified, and only a few were the AI spam filters made a mistake.

The fact that friends are able to post a review text that you are not able to post proves that there is a block on your account. Writing longer reviews is not a good strategy as the spam filter have more to get triggered by.

I recall another case where a local guide wrote a long and negative review of a driving school. I hinted that the text was pretty much a revenge review - which he categoricly denied. But it was in my opinion.

I will suggest the following:

You read the guidelines again and clean out any potential violations. Please also search and learn more from others in your situation here on Connect.

Then fill out this form and wait about 3 weeks for an email response. If it comes back clean, you can then try the other form which can take up to 6 weeks and gives no reply.

The first form is currently not available. It has been reported. You will have to wait until it comes back online.
