I sorted Tokyo Station into themed Google Maps lists — how would you share them?

Hello from Tokyo :crescent_moon: I’ve been sorting places around Tokyo Station into little themed lists on Google Maps, each with its own icon — food of all kinds, souvenirs, sweets, and also practical things like coin lockers and luggage storage :luggage:

It’s only Tokyo Station so far, but I’d love for it to help other people too. :seedling: How would you take something like this further — and how do you share your lists so they reach the people who need them?

Any tip, even one line, is very welcome :teacup_without_handle:

Hello @Ratte This is a brilliant approach; organizing locations—such as those in Tokyo - into a theme-based list is incredibly helpful. You can take this a step Next level by using Google My Maps.

For instance,

I created a custom map for Mathura-Vrindavan, featuring all the essential locations, routes, and points of interest, complete with distinct markers and a legend. By making such a map live and public on Google My Maps, travelers can navigate their journey with ease and without any hassle.

Have enjoy

Hi @Ratte

A few years back public lists on Google Maps could be found via Google Search. So it was super important how you named and described your lists so others could find them.

But this is no longer the case. Google Maps lists are no longer indexed by Google Search.

Google Maps can feature lists on the Explore tab, but we cannot request this to happen.

So we are left with distributing the links ourselves. So if your have a huge number of followers on social media, you are lucky. If not, you are pretty much out of luck. Email your friends or use messaging apps.

@MortenCopenhagen That’s a shame!

I found the list really helpful…I remember I made a couple of lists:

The Top 10 Best Wedding Location Photo Spots

The Best Organic Stores in Great Auckland Area…

I don’t know who had a chance to see these…

@Ratte I wish I had seen the list before I travelled to Japan.

I did my homework before I travelled: there are so many sources of information from all over the places: YouTube, Insta, Red Note, Webpages…It took me 20 minutes to find the ticket office at Tokyo Station…I almost missed the flight coz’ I need to take the express train to the airport.

I agree, I think we need a better way for users to find our lists.
