The title says it all; when I agreed to be a guide I was promised 1TB of free Drive storage, yet I still only have 15gb. A simple forum search for “rewards” shows that I am not the only one that was under this impression. Why were multiple people offered a great storage option to lure them in? Was it removed when you to sell us discounted storage? Either way I feel betrayed.
Hi @JonWright there have been a series of storage promotions. The most recent being that late last year Local Guides of Level 6 and up were offered membership of Google 1 which includes some storage (the higher the level the more you got). The vanilla 1TB storage you mention is a very old offer and ran out years ago. All of the offers have strict time frames and have to be redeemed within the timeframe. Unfortunately a lot of the material on the internet isn’t under the control of Google so people still become confused about the offer as the invalid out of date material stays up unfortunately.
The main reward is helping other people with your reviews, edits and photos in the same way that you are helped by the same from other people. Being a Local Guide is an altruistic undertaking. Of course it strengthens the data held by Google and makes Maps a better product but that is still an advantage for the people who use the product.
To make sure that you learn about current perks in your region make sure you have notification emails turned on visit https://maps.google.com/localguides/home/settings and tick the “Perks box”
