I require help correcting the name of an area on Google Maps.

I know that I cannot change the name of an area such as a town/city/county/state/country/etc without help. I began attempting to correct this area’s name using Google Maps in 2015 without any success. The first picture shows the museum that I describe. The second screenshot shows the location of the area in MacArthur Park that I wish corrected.

The URL will not work in here. Should you need to verify this claim, please type MacArthur Park Historic District in a search on the Internet not limited to Google Maps. Even before iOS 14 was released, I noticed that McArthur misses the letter a to make the spelling MacArthur. The historic district were named after General Douglas MacArthur or Arthur MacArthur, Jr. I have tried to change the name using my laptop without any ability. Please fix the name or remove. You are likely to gain confirmation regarding this from (501) 376-4602 if needed. The museum does not open until 9 or 10 am (CST) on weekdays. I do not know about the weekend.

I prefer the name corrected rather than removed. However, I am not Google. I likely provided more information than needed. When I submit feedback in Google Maps, the name remains the same. If I do some thing wrong when attempting get the name changed in Google Maps, I can change my approach with the needed knowledge.

Thank you,

Andrew L

Hi @Androoh

Is this link not working for you :

https://maps.app.goo.gl/eCaL5XzzQX2Q1v1NA

If not try this one. Please confirm this is the place in question.

The incorrectly spelled historic place has only two photos (and no reviews) while this correctly spelled place has almost 2200 photos and 765 reviews/star-only ratings.

So my suggestion would be to just remove the wrongly spelled place.

Cheers

Your links work, @MortenCopenhagen , thanks a lot

You are right, you cannot make a change in there. Interesting indeed that everything around is named correctly (MacArthur Museum of Arkansas - MacArthur Dog Park - MacArthur Park ) including the road .

The best option is to report this to the Google Maps Help Community .

As an extra step, I will ask to @DeniGu if it is possible to escalate the issue to the team

Hi @Androoh ,

Thanks for reaching out.

The location in your first screenshot, McArthur Park Historic District, doesn’t seem to be a museum. The details that you provided, the phone number and opening hours, match the details of the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas, which has the correct name.

If you are referring to the whole district, MacArthur Park, it seems to appear with its correct name on Google Maps:

When you click on the name “MacArthur Park,” it highlights this area:

If you think that the specific place you’re reporting, McArthur Park Historic District, does not exist or there are places on Maps that cover it, please reach out on the Google Maps Help Community forum once you’ve made sure you have submitted your feedback on Maps. Thank you!

Thank you for joining this conversation, @MortenCopenhagen and @ErmesT , and for your helpful replies!

@DeniGu ,

This should better explain my issue. The museum in the first screenshot was MacArthur Museum of Arkansas. I have spent time in MacArthur Park. The museum is in the park. I know what I selected. For the moment, only look at the green on the map.

The issue is the spelling of McArthur Park Historic District. Since I am unable to insert a web link when I began this, I took a partial screenshot to attempt to make my case.

In this area, I-30 runs almost due north or south. East Capitol Avenue is the same as East 5th Street if we had one. I attempt to correct the spelling of this area. I already shared my feedback as best as able several times over the years in Google Maps. I know changes do not happen immediately. However, I wish to have MacArthur Park Historic District’s name corrected. I do not type McArthur because that is misspelled. This is one of the few exceptions. Please fix the name. MacArthur Park is correct.
