I’ve been a Local Guide for years and now I’m level 7, I made a mistake, I wanted to change the incorrect name of a place, and instead, I deleted the previous one and created a new one with the correct one (clicking the wrong option when I have been asked in the pop-up).
I then contacted Google One support to which I am subscribed and they told me to try to send corrections, but all of them were refused.
I have been dedicating myself to Google Maps for years trying to be precise, I don’t want to risk being banned now, why not put a function to fix an error in one click? The wrong edit was also approved immediately.
@eliodalte
I will be the first to admit that the pop-up question about fix the name or change the business can be very difficult to understand. Honestly it’s quite confusing.
First I think we should try to solve the problems ourselves.
Please share the Maps links to the two pins and let me know which one is the original and which one is the copy.
I will then try to fix it. If unsuccesful We will need to seek help in the maps support Forum.
I don’t know thing you are in any danger. I appreciate your efforts to keep Maps updated and accurate.
Cheers
Morten
@eliodalte
Let me take a look. But first, please be informed that using ALL CAPS in business names is a violation of the naming guidelines in itself. It might affect your chances to make subsequent edits. Also, trying to make edits to a temporarily (or permanently) closed business will never be approved.
Next, I noticed that the business is claimed. So the business owner has a lot more control over what changes get accepted. Have you checked the name in Italian?
It is very unlikely that your suggestion to close the pin will NOT be approved for several reasons: 1) The pin is claimed, and 2) the newest review was posted only 10 hours ago, ) It has a total of 40 reviews and 22 photos.
I think the best way forward it to remove the new pin. I suggested it be removed at “Does not exist” and I suggested the original pin be renamed to Fame Chimica (this was not accepted). My first edit was accepted:
So the problem is basically solved. If you still think the name needs to be fixed, the first step would be to contact the owner and suggest he change the English name. And help him to do so from his account if he agrees. Alternatively, you can seek help on this in the Maps support forum.
All the best

@eliodalte
It might take 24 hours before you can see that the second pin has been removed on Google Maps.

@MortenCopenhagen
The pin appears as already removed, thank you for your help. I was yesterday in this restaurant which has recently changed its name, I’ll let the owner change it.
Shouldn’t I then risk no problem with my account?
You are good now with respect to this small mishab, @eliodalte
All the best
