Maybe its just me (but I don’t think so) but i love to find things that Google Maps has either forgotten to add to Maps, or is so new, that Maps hasn’t gotten round to adding it yet. As good as Google Maps is, sometimes it can take a while for things to appear, so i consider it my duty to add locations, be they historic, or business or whatever when the opportunity arises.
Also, sometimes, it’s worth trying to find historic locations (local or otherwise) that Google may not know. So, for example I added the Sir Matt Busby ans Sir Alex Ferguson statues at Manchester United’s Old Trafford ground… the statue is famous world wide, and thousands of people take their photos next to it every week… here’s a link… https://goo.gl/maps/ee7uBQkMNeCH7fKc6 - I’ve found several around the UK, and several in Manchester where I live.
The John Hassall Monument in Bingham - https://goo.gl/maps/Sy9h8ryYd5Sc7ZdX7
Of course it’s not always historic locations - businesses need to get their Google listinsg up and running ASAP - but sometime businesses are a bit slow to say the least - which is where Local guides come in - I love to add new buinesses to Google - we’re doing our bit to help businesses find their feet, and get going - I’ve added several businesses -
Yoga Rooms Manchester - https://goo.gl/maps/XRCRGMCLgFt7kezu8
Sew Simple Patchwork and Quilting Shop in Frodsham - https://goo.gl/maps/hQLWQHhPbBJJjhjK6
But as important as doing all those things is, it’s also the simple things that get me going - like simply moving an incorreclty placed map marker - or sometime correcting a Google Business listing that incorrectly states a bushiness has closed - like Travelodge, Upper Brook Street in Manchester .
The list of what we can do as Local Guides is pretty endless, and the deeper you get the more endless it becomes.
