I love reading great contents on Connect.

As a writer I am an avid supporter of great contents on connect. I have an eye for great contents or posts. And whenever I see one there are some fundamental qualities that I always look out for. These qualities include

Theme

The theme of the post or content is very vital and key to a very great post. What is the message or big idea that the writer is trying to pass across? What do you want your audience to know? You must develop your content around a theme and it must be on a very important or popular subject matter.

Structure

Then I will look at the structure or framework of the post. The structure is the building block of every great post. How is the content arranged? Was it done orderly or recklessly? The heading must come first before the body and the conclusion must not come before the introduction. When the structure is not well coordinated the content becomes disjointed and may lose meaning.

Just like the architect will follow step by step approach in the construction of a building, the same way you must construct your content from introduction to the conclusion.

Readability

Another quality of a great content I look at is the readability. The structure of sentences comes to mind. As much as possible avoid lengthy and ambiguous sentences and paragraphs.

Some posts are so ambiguous that even Google Translator is mesmerized and confused. Make your sentences short and concise. And if your post is above three hundred words consider using subheadings for easy comprehension of your content.

Still on readability you must make the heading of your content unambiguous. The heading must tally with body of your content. Many a times you find some catchy headings that are different from the contents. This will bounce back would be supporters or fans. Hence, the content must correspond with the heading.

Comprehension

The ability for you to drive home your message is another quality of a great content. The question is were you able to convey the message to your target and were they able to comprehend the message?

The best practice in driving home your message is by using illustrations. Always raise points or ideas and illustrate them with facts and figures. Uploading pictures is one of the ways you can make your readers understand the message of your content. It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Always add photos to your content. Add captions to the photos to further describe them for a better understanding.

Evoking action

This is a very important quality of a great content. Was it able to elicit action? A great content must be incisive. It must evoke action from your audience. Actions like likes, comments, replies to comments, mentioning, supporting an idea or voting can be parameters or indices for measuring a great content on connect.

Next time you want to post great contents that will evoke actions on connect you must consider these qualities.

@Ant_Bad_Yogi this is a great post. Very incisive and you were able to pass your message across to your readers about your experience at sukayu onsen. The theme is centered on your unplanned visit to this place.

It is a great post, unambiguous and easy to understand with some graphic illustrations using colorful photos. And it was able to evoke actions from your readers as many of them are already liking and commenting on your post of their own experiences. This is a good one @Onukakalu ! Adding on to your point on comprehensiveness, I also find it interesting when the reader interprets the content in a different way than the author intended but adds much value to the content. I find that it can add to a meaningful discussion.

Thanks @JordanSB for commenting on my post. That’s nice of you. Concerning your question on which of the boards I frequent most. The answer is the Local stories since it is where Local guides share most of their experiences and discoveries though, I visit other boards like photography, travel, food and drinks etc.

As a writer I find great contents fascinating and this is what I look out for each time I visit connect. And I have found some of your posts very fascinating. You have great contents in your stable especially the post, ‘Anyone Else plan trips and itineraries Around Coffee?’
