Saw the theme of October, “Places with nostalgic feels”, announced by @HiroyukiTakisawa , I would like to share about an okonomiyaki place I visited with @altkennyh2l back in July.
Located the Gion area of Kyoto, which is a famous sightseeing area. The resuaurant feels like it is packed with the sense of “shouwa”. And it’s named “Issen Yoshoku (壹錢洋食 祗園本店)”. We can see and feel the history but just the outlook of the building. Despite that Kyoto is often being referred as “the old capital”, the place is on a different feel of retro and nostalgia. If put in one line, I would refer the shop as “a collection of shouwa retro”.
Walking into the resuaurant, it was surprizing to see how deep the space goes and I was a bit shocked by how big the interior is. There are quite a lot of tinplate toys showcased inside, which created excitment with the retro feeling the interior provides.
The seated we were guided was next to some old-fashioned pouch (like Chinese red-pockets) with woodcut-illustration on it. There were also a legion of Astro Boy lining up too. Staring with those Astro Boys, ordering and waiting for our food, it was another moment we cannot claim down from the excitment and atmosphere.
The menu here only listed drinks and “Issen Youshoku”, where there is no worries in being lost about what to choose. “Issen Youshoku” looks like okonomiyaki, yet it is different from okonomiyaki and is something original here. It somehow looks alike with “Nikuten” (a local gourmet of Takasago-shi, Hyougo Pref.), but the taste of it and the sauce are slightly different that they do not feel the same and are unique in their own style.
Would highly recommend to visit, when talking a relaxing walk around Gion, Kyoto.

@HiroyukiTakisawa さんの投稿を見た限り今月は「10月のお題：懐かしさを感じるものや場所」ということなので…。
今年7月末に私が香港の友人（@altkennyh2l ）と京都へ行った際に立ち寄ったお店を紹介します。（私自身まだここへの写真、口コミ投稿はしてません。）
京都の観光地の一つ祇園になんとも古めかしく「昭和」を詰め込んだようなお店が存在します。
それがここ
壹錢洋食 祗園本店
見た目からしてもわかるように、ひと昔前のいでたちのお店で、古都京都と言われる古めかしい町並みとはまた違う次元のなつかしさの漂うお店です。
一言でお店の感想を言うと「昭和レトロを寄せ集めたお店」。

店内へ入ると思った以上に奥行きがあり、広いので少し驚きます。
ブリキのおもちゃなどが多数展示されていて、昔懐かしさを感じる一方で普段ない落ち着かなさを感じる店内でした。

私が案内されたテーブルの隣に展示されていたのは古い木版画のポチ袋の数々と鉄腕アトムの集団。
鉄腕アトムの集団に見られながら注文を待ったり、食べるのはこれまた落ち着かなさがありました。
【食べ物写真】
ここのお店のメニューはドリンクと壹銭洋食というメニューが一つだけなので注文に悩むことはありません。
壹銭洋食はどことなくお好み焼きのようですが、お好み焼きではないここオリジナルの食べ物。
見た目と具材を見ると兵庫県高砂市のご当地グルメ「にくてん」にそっくりな食べ物のように感じますが、ソースやちょっとした味が違う別の食べ物でした。
祇園周辺でぶらり散歩がてら訪れてみてもいいかもしれません。
