Recently, I spent a significant amount of time and care writing an in-depth, soulful review for a restaurant in Kaohsiung named “圍爐裏 彰” (as shown in Screenshot 1). I shared its cultural background, spatial atmosphere, and my authentic dining experience, hoping to provide high-quality guidance for fellow users.
However, when checked from other accounts, I realized this review had been shadowbanned—completely hidden from the public timeline without any trace or reason (as shown in Screenshot 2).
To be completely honest, this hurts. As a user who volunteers my personal time and emotional energy to help build and optimize Google’s ecosystem, being treated with such cold, automated “over-filtering” feels like a slap in the face. When the AI blindly suppresses genuine, high-quality human narratives just to save on moderation costs, it severely damages the trust and enthusiasm of your most loyal creators.
I sincerely request the Google Maps team to address the following:
1 Stop the False Positives on Long-form Content: Please refine your AI models. My review contains no policy violations, no spam, and no external links. The algorithm must learn to distinguish deep, descriptive human expression from malicious bot behavior.
2 Respect the Dignity of Contributors: Defaulting to a shadowban is a form of silent rejection that invalidates our efforts. If a post is flagged, give us transparency and a clear path to appeal, rather than making our hard work disappear into a void.
I have attached the comparison screenshots for your reference. I still wish to believe in a Google Maps that values authenticity and protects its creators. I look forward to your meaningful response.
Sincerely,
A Disheartened yet Hopeful Local Guide
