Thanks @Noimacki … glad you like the info on the apps that I use. I just figured that it would come in useful for those who don’t really do much photo editing.
With regards to your question on adding text to a video screenshot, are you wanting to add text to video or add text to a screenshot of a video (i.e. a picture). Canva and Snapseed can add text to any picture. If it’s video, I use PowerDirector, but it is not free! I’ve tried a few free apps but I wasn’t happy with any of them.
I choose a smaller size for photos mainly because I want to keep file sizes small so that they can load faster/easier especially for folks with poor internet connection. And usually, you can get pretty good quality photos at < 1MB so I don’t think it messes with the quality too much. Also, there was a discussion that if you use a lot of large photos in your post, you will hit a “post size” limit. The “post size” refers to text and photos in the post. @MariaNgo knows more about this if I’m not mistaken!
And lastly, I don’t think there’s search function for photos in the Connect Photo Library. @Christina-NYC can possibly answer this better! And I don’t think there are a lot of photos in the Connect Photo Library so you shouldn’t really need to search.
Hi @AdrianLunsong ,
Thanks for your detailed enlightening reply. I am grateful to you for taking time out to give such a lucid, thoughtful and helpful response. God bless!
Cheers!

Yes, I certainly know about those ‘limits’. I tend to be rather verbose and when I posted my first Recap after my first Photowalk I was so excited to share my photos and tell my story I got rather carried away. As Adrian has mentioned, large photos tend to look better. Well, large photos as it turns out take up more ‘characters’ on the page and I wondered why even though as far as character counts was concerned I was under the limit but kept getting unwelcome messages about not being able to post my article/post! So in desperation I decided to reduce the size of the photos, and well it worked. It was my first post and it was a steep learning curve.
The limit? 20,000 characters.
I do like the suggestion of using a collage maker to group your photos so that it only counts as one. Because there is a limit of 1000 photos in total for all your posts. I wonder, if I were to go back to my older posts and replace some with collages, would that reduce my photos count? Hmm …
I’m glad that Adrian has written such a post here to help us write better posts! I could have done with it then. I’m still learning so keep up the great job Adrian.

Thanks @MariaNgo for the information on character limit! I’m going to use them in my post for Advance Tips that should be out mid next week! You’ll be credited too, obviously!

Hi @MariaNgo ,
Thanks for sharing your experience. Very helpful.
Cheers!
@AdrianLunsong My original post about this character limit can be found here
But the whole post might not be relevant. And looking back at what you’ve written, my post could have done with an opening photo. But I could not edit that post to add a photo for some strange reason when I tried to do so just then …

Thanks @AdrianLunsong ,
I have read all your posts about tips (basic and intermediate) and it helped me out a lot !
The photo part was particularly useful to me and made me realize how important it is, because a good text without good pictures won’t catch any attention.
And indeed, it works quite well to stand out among other posts.
And I also managed to reduce the number of photos by using collage, I think it actually breaks the monotony by bringing some dynamics…

Hi there @AdrianLunsong
Thanks for the great tips.
I use most of the apps that you’ve mentioned but had a really troublesome resize app so thanks a million for the one you posted. I’ve downloaded it and it works so much better.
As for Canva and Snapseed - love, love, love!

@AdrianLunsong Hello Adrian, Right, I have done what I promised, so here’s my article. As you can see I’ve incorporated your writing tips (!). Although I could not manage to find a collage maker from my laptop and couldn’t find a way of adding video. Ya, I still have much to learn.

Thanks @AdrianLunsong for the detailed post. My concern though is when I’ve posted and I realize like I misspelled some words, is there a way to edit my post afterwards like we do in #facebook and #twitter?

Hi @Nguthijosephk
Great question! Yes, you can edit your post after you’ve posted/published it! You can read this post here that talks about it more. Just a word of caution though, if you spot an error immediately after posting, just wait a while and keep on checking your post for any other possible mistakes. Once you’ve gathered all the changes that you want to make, then go ahead and make your edits.
Connect’s spam filters can be a bit ‘active’ at times and the usual triggers are:
- you edit your post immediately after posting
- making multiple edits in quick successions
We always advice folks to slow down and try to do only one edit so do make sure that you’ve checked through everything. And if it does get picked up by the spam filter, the post that I linked to above also talks about what to do then! Hope that helps!
