How to use the emergency phone on the highway/

Hi!!

No one wants to have an accident, and moreover, no one wants to encounter an opportunity to use an emergency phone.
A sample emergency phone is on display at the Ebino parking area in Miyazaki Prefecture.

It is a sample, so you cannot make a phone call.
It is simple to use.
It can be easily operated with the buttons shown in the illustration.

They are designed to be easy to operate even if you are upset due to an accident.

I thought it was important to be exposed to this kind of thing on a regular basis, not after a disaster or accident.

Is there a topic category for “Safety?”

Thanks for the comment.

I would like you to publicize the existence of these facilities.
Is the local guide the only way to leave comments on a map like this?

Interesting, @yamamo_cchi

I believe highway emergency phones were taken down more than 10 years ago as everyone started carrying a mobile device.

This facility is located in the Ebino parking area. It is not a stand-alone facility.
It can be added as one business, but it does not have a specific name.
In the introduction to Ebino Parking Area I write.

Thanks for the comment.
They don’t dare to abolish it in Japan. As for the reason.

  • The reason is that it runs through mountainous areas and there are many tunnels. Because we don’t know if cell phones can be used in tunnels.
  • They say that if you use an emergency phone, you can immediately tell where you are calling from. If you use a cellular phone, unless the caller tells you “where you are calling from,” you will not be able to troubleshoot.
There are other reasons, too, they say.

Various trouble handling devices have increased in recent years.
It is my opinion that clarifying where these things are presented as samples and giving everyone experience with them will make us more resilient to disasters.

Hi again @yamamo_cchi

As mentioned by @Annaelisa there is no specific category for emergency phones on the list of Maps categories.

This is the subtle way Maps communicates that they do not want us to add such places.

All the best

Sehr hilfreich wenn es um Notfälle geht

I don’t think you are getting my intention.
What I have presented here is an exhibit.
It is an emergency phone that does not actually function.

But it is a very important exhibit for learning how to use it.
You can’t practice with the real thing.

I want to announce the presence of the exhibit and draw attention to it at all costs.

Few people actually stop by here in the parking area.
Out of 1,286 reviews, I am the only one who has mentioned the emergency phone exhibit.

Also ein Übungsort für ein Notrufttelefon…

Okay :+1:

Sorry, I misunderstood your intentions, @yamamo_cchi .

I think making this info available via a review is probably your best option.

Or what were you hoping to learn?

Cheers
