How to Travel from Haneda Airport to Tokyo Downtown by Limo Bus

If you are arriving in Tokyo via the Haneda airport, there are 3 options to travel to the city center or downtown.

  1. Taxi - very costly, in excess of five thousand Yen.

  2. Tokyo Metro - This is the cheapest option but need to change the line at Shinagawa station.

This could be a hassle with all the luggage and also Tokyo metro takes some to comprehend the lines, colors and connections.

The cost could be about 850 Yen and additional walking from the station to the hotel.

  1. Bus - This is slightly expensive comparatively, though the metro but drops you at the nearest point to the hotel.

I took this bus, also strangely called the Limo Bus, and the cost was 1100 Yen.

The ticket vending machine for the bus can be easily spotted when you know it looks like this:

Hint: The first button to find on the screen is “English” since the default screen is Japanese as shown below.

If you are not comfortable with using a kiosk machine there is a lavish ticket counter.

The service is prompt and decent.

The staff at the counter understands English, though saying Shibuya is enough if you want to go to Shibuya.

Do not hesitate to provide a 10,000 Yen note for a 1100 ticket.

They will promptly return you the change without a grudge.

The Japanese are extremely polite and have infinite patience.

Note however that they would expect the same decency from you.

Back to the ticket vending machine, the prompts on the screen are easy to follow.

Take your time to figure out what’s happening since the screen looks busy and could be a daunting task handling it the first time.

Once you got the ticket, there will be guiding flex boards immediately as you leave the ticket counter.

Keep walking and keep your eyes open - there will be guidance and directions all over the place.

More signs follow before you feel you have lost directions.

The Haneda airport in Tokyo is not so large compared to the ones in India.

The directions are clear and are placed at prominent places.

Finally, you will arrive at the elevator lift that will take you down to the street level for the bus.

As shown in the inset, the elevator lift is accessible for the differently abled.

After exiting the elevator lift you will see the street level bus stop where a staff member in uniform will be standing to guide you.

The inset in the photo below shows the bus ticket.

The transport staff will help you with loading the luggage.

Inside the bus is comfortable seating.

The bus takes about 1 hour to reach from Terminal 3 of the Haneda Airport of Tokyo to Shibuya.

Enjoy the views on the way.

Welcome to Tokyo, Konnichiwa!

Hello @TusharSuradkar ,

I take the privilege to comment first on your another master piece article. What a level of clarity! ASTONISING!!! it is.

A person travelling to Japan does not need ay aids other than this post of yours to have a trouble free and timely journey.

Right from entering the ticket counter to boarding the bus (Limo :grinning: ) is well articulated.

A query - Are you there standing with victory sign in the first and the last photo in this post? Also, why this photo is repeated twice? Is there any special hint you are intending to provide to your readers with this?

Thank you for tagging me in your wonderful post.

Keep sharing.

JAI HO!!!

This is very detailed post and can guide anyone who is traveling first time there. :+1:t2: :ok_hand:t2:

All the systems here are very digitally advanced and simple I guess. I would love to travel by metro though.

Cheers!

Thank you so much @TusharSuradkar for tagging me in your post. It means a lot to me. Great to know that I am able to pass encouragement! You are very much right in saying that Japanese are polite and have infinite patience, they actually are. They are very organized when it comes to their business, work, travel, technology and their business with other countries. The flow of the post is uniform and easy to understand with supporting pictures, which would be a great help who wish to travel to Japan! Indeed, a detailed post for first time travelers. Thank you for this informative share!

Thank you dear @Kumaarsantosh for the appreciation.

I am glad someone saw the value in the post that I intended to.

And good observation and question :+1:

The first photo in the post is used as the profile or banner photo for the post.

Hence, I chose the one I am posing, after a hectic 24 hours of travel.

I repeated it again since it matched the concluding words - Welcome to Tokyo.

I usually do not do that and also no special reason, but here we are

Hi @TusharSuradkar I tried the Limousin bus from Narita to Tokyo as well. I didn’t notice that they had the vending machine ticket! This post is really helpful. Thanks for always sharing :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @NunungAfuah

You probably found the ticket counter which is large and more prominent.

Not sure about Narita airport but the ticket vending machines are easy to miss in a crowd of other vending machines like the IC card recharge, monorail tickets, bank ATMs, and so on…

You are right, dear @TusharSuradkar …

Our friends @AjitThite @AnubhaBangia @Mo_TravelleerX @Kumaarsantosh had given continued support to you - appreciate their kind gesture - also they were going through the post in detail - great!

This post also is value filled…a lot of very useful information. The photos are also great guidances with inset, etc.

This one hour travel covers approximately how many kms? Tushar?

Though the airport is small, I’m not seeing any rush like our large airports… right?

As our @NunungAfuah mentioned, your post is really helpful for people who travel in Japan…

Great!

Best regards

We used this bus too @TusharSuradkar although we got it to Sinjuku then caught the local metro on the Odeo line two stops to Nishi Shinjuku which was right next to our hotel. The bus is much easier than the trains and even after we learnt the train system we were so tired on our last day that Chris and I elected to book the bus again from Omiya back to Haneda. It was hassle free and we arrived in plenty of time.

Even today I have no idea how to book the Limo bus back to the airport @PaulPavlinovich .

Can you drop a line on this?

As a result, I and @NareshDarji decided to stay in a hotel very close to the airport so that we could reach there without the hassle of figuring out the metro routes and to avoid any hassle and delay reaching the airport on the return journey.

I certainly can help there @TusharSuradkar you just book the bus online at their website https://webservice.limousinebus.co.jp/web/en/ or you can ask your hotel to arrange it. We booked online because we wanted to be sure. Interestingly I got the date wrong as it defaulted to a day away instead of today but they simply worked it out and let us travel anyway. Great customer service.

Also, I noticed you do not put captions on your photos…

Thank you @TonyAlexander

I’d be glad to add captions, what purpose would the serve.

I am curious to know since most photos in my post carry a description immediately before or after it.

I only find it to be a repetition of the post’s contents.

Hey @TusharSuradkar

That’s a beautiful post with great details to travel and explore when in Japan. Surely, on my bucket list. Lots of best wishes and super-duper energy for the upcoming posts too.
