Dear @DeniGu @StephenAbraham @FelipePK @PoliMC
Kindly help, please…
Subject: Regarding “Google Map LIST”
Could you kindly help me with the answers, for the following questions, please…?
- Is there a facility available to (Auto) Sort the Google Map LIST with, places near to each other, in Google Maps?
- Or, Can Google provide a Sort Button (for example, ability to use a mouse, to drag a particular Place to the right position /location – [Eg: in the picture]), so that:
- we can sort, the already saved LIST or
- INSERT a new place, in the appropriate position, after a list is saved?
- Also, another Important point:
Once we add a place in the LIST, the “Add a Place” window is not refreshed; (the previous name stays back, when we go to add the next place). Or,
Considering this as a positive aspect, alternative is to provide a single “Clear Button” (Eg: in the picture) above the “Add a Place” box (now, one is forced to delete the entry, manually, by mark delete, multiple operation).
- Once, all the places are added, one will be at a blank, as what next to do, as auto-save is enabled by default; kindly provide a “Done” (Eg: in the picture) at the top (shown in the picture) to exit the screen, back to “Saved” menu.
I hope, you will do the needful and help us or guide me how to get this done.
Note:
The following picture suggests the changes; hope it is self-explanatory.
Thank you very much,
Regards to all…

@TravellerG based on what I have been using Lists:
-
Current entries in a list does not yet have the feature for sort, and it goes in the same way as the entries are added. My best suggestion is that turn off all lists, and turn on only the list that you are keen in looking at, and select show on Maps, and you should be able to see visually which places are near to each other. That’s usually how I personally use a list a lot of the time.
-
Currently no sort button, or insert an entry in a specific position. Do post in Idea Exchange for new feature suggestions.

Once we are done adding items to list, just use the back button to go back to the previous screen. I think after one has done a first list, it will more familiar process.
To have more control over the above, one suggestion could be to use MyMaps where on desktop browser, we can rearrange items in a Map, change icons etc. Lists are good for a small set of locations to be shared for a particular need. For more extensive or needs, MyMaps may be a better fit where needed.
Others can help give their experience and ways they use Lists also. It would be good to know how others use it.

Yes as we have discussed in the Idea post Managing Lists on Google Maps we need betterways to manage non-trivial lists, especially theorder of POIs that we want on them. It’s good to see that and slowly gaining some support for these ideas and I do hope that it continues. I have also raised other issues/ideas regarding lists and the links for these you can see in my signature, and I hope that these also gain more support.

As of now I am able to sort POIs on my lists when using my Android phone app. I tried on PC and IPad but no luck there. So hopefully that will be rolled out to the other platforms also. Cheers. @StephenAbraham

@MortenCopenhagen Thanks for the update. This will come in handy.

Sure it’s nice. But not super easy on a small screen with limited height to show only slightly more than one pin at a time. Try and you will know what I mean. @StephenAbraham
