I am a local guide.
And I am ashamed. Of taking pictures. My friends thing it’s weird to take pictures of my food. Other people look at me funny, when I try to get the best shot to upload on Google.
See, I like being a Local Guide. To share pictures with others of the location or food or rooms. Also I can profit from other Local Guides who post pictures of restaurants or locations I want to visit. So yeah, I think my favorite thing about being a Local Guide is sharing pictures and also watching pictures from others.
For example, I had a beautiful breakfast with a friend of mine this morning. I just had to share this experience with you guys!
My friend asked me - “Why do you take pictuers of our food all the time? Are you obsessed with Instagram or something?”
Uhm, no. I am not. I explained it to her. She did understand, but still looked at me like I was a bit weird.
That`s why most of the time I am taking these pictures secretly. Act like you are checking your phone. Answer a very important E- Mail or just shout “Holy Guacamoly, look! I think thats Brad Pitt over there!”.
Works every time. The whole restaurant actually looks the way I point to and nobody see´s me taking pictures like the attantion seeking Millenial I am.
That’s how I do it. But you know what also works really well? Ignoring the other people. Why should you even care what they think? And explain the ‘Why’ to your friends and family.
I like it. I am passionate about it. And I am going to do it now and in the future.
