How to reinstate the elevation graph for walking directions in the Maps app on Android?

I was utilizing a convenient feature in the Maps app for several days.
Below are screenshots for the walking paths in three different regions, India, Japan & the US.

The attribute was active till end September 2019.
Subsequently, I had to do a factory reset.

Apps & data did return through the backup.

However, the reinstalled Maps failed to show the elevation graph.

I have never altered the region for the application as well as for the play store.
Even rollback of the app to the factory fitted version couldn’t revive that.

Currently, I can see the ascent graph for cycle paths in some select places. Nevertheless, the same is not working for walking directions.
Is the feature obscured in some setting? How to get that back on the phone?

Currently, I can view that on a desktop, but not on the phone.

Hi @C_T

I think this is a serverside issue and not related to your local setup.

Cheers

@C_T I don’t walk much with Maps, but I haven’t seen this particular view for elevation during walking. Good to know that it exist. So, with the latest install, there is no way to access it back? Interested to know if others can still access this.

Or possibly elevation data may not be available in every country, hence I don’t see it. Not sure.

Hello @StephenAbraham

Thanks for the reply.

The elevation graph is a useful feature while on a steep trail. We can understand how much effort would be needed to walk over there.

I am aware, certain features in the app are region-specific and do not become active if the user is from a different zone.

However, that can’t be the reason for my account as I could see that for several months.

Till now, no user has confirmed continued availability of the feature and I presume that to be withdrawn without any indication.

Nevertheless, we can always see a graph on desktop and that’s a consolation.
