Review is a very basic thing that each and every local Guides does for places and businesses
At times we fall out of words or don’t know how to review some places, especially when we are new to local Guides program or not sure what to write.
In my recent Virtual meet up we discussed about reviews that’s where I listed out some points which can be helpful while adding reviews for different places.
Vibe / Environment - it is really important to mention about the vibe and environment of a place especially when reviewing restaurants, cafes, place of entertainment.
Example.
The place is kids friendly / family friendly.
The place is ideal for groups or teenagers/ silent for working easily.
The place has natural view / the place has good night view or good lights.
Price - this point doesn’t apply to all places but may a times people choose a place which is pocket friendly and has good food / service.
There are also some super markets and sellers who offer products at discounted rates.
Example.
You can mention about the restaurant which has pocket friendly menu.
You can also write about places or stores providing student discount.
Hygiene and safety - this is a really important point to mention in our reviews as they are of basic important and in situation like today it is of top most priority.
Example.
Proper social distance measures are followed at the store.
The owner is wearing a mask.
The place is properly sanitized.
There is sanitizer kept at the entrance especially on public places.
the place has clean toilets
Product / services - this is an important point because cause when we search for a place we usually search for the product or service we want.
Example.
Mention about the printing and lamination service offered by your local stationery shop.
You can also mention about mobile repair service which is offered by the mobile phone seller or car repair service at automobile parts seller.
Entry fees - while reviewing places like museum, historical tourist places and parks it is important to mention if there is any entry fee applicable or not.
Rush hours - this is helpful for places like restaurant, malls and parks because if the place has too much crowd at specific time of the day or weekends one can decide to make changes accordingly.
Example.
If the restaurant you frequently visit is crowded and has waiting time on weekends you can mention about it in the review.
If the park is crowded during evening for walks and by kids or there are any games like football or cricket happening at the park during weekends or in afternoon time.
Parking facility - this point is also considered helpful when we decide to drive a car or take two wheeler to visit a place. If there is no parking space available one can find out for places around where parking is available.
Delivery / pick up and takeaway - as per the new normal many stores are not open for in store shopping or restaurant are just offering pick up / takeaway or delivery.
Example.
The local grocery store offering free home delivery.
The local restaurant is offering pick up for online orders and take away.
Online classes - this is also a new thing to add up in our reviews where we mention about the virtual experience we had for online workshop or classes.
Example.
Online cooking workshop provided by hospitality education industry.
Online dance classes offered by dance studio.
Accessibility - Accessibility is the feature we must always look out as it is very important for specially-able people but also helpful or elderly people.
Mentioning the basic accessible features of a place can be very helpful.
Example.
Ramp or lift available for elderly and wheelchair Accessibility.
Brail menu or wheelchair availability at the place.
Highlight specific details - this is an add on to your review where we you can mention about a specific thing that you like about the place.
Example.
Appreciating the owner or staff who is kind and helpful.
A must try or recommended dish of your favorite restaurant.
The Unique thing you found on the menu.
The special theme based decor, food, products.

What I did, I usually includes the availability musholla or prayer room whenever possible, especially the malls, big restaurants or other big public areas. However ths only apply for certain places as define above.

@Shreeya_99 with the New Normal everyone is concerned about the safety measures being followed, if we are aware it can be of great help to others also many small business have started operating virtually especially service oriented whereas the restaurants and groceries are offering pick up and delivery service.
Thanks for sharing important points that will come handy while writing a review. Also, liked the hygiene point as in today’s situation it is of utmost importance.
Interesting and useful post @FalguniP . Reviews are really important in order to help people to understand the place. And genuine reviews makes it easier to take decision about to visit or not. Thank you @FalguniP for describing pointwise and in detail. I am sure after watching this post LGs will really have an impact on their reviews. With all of your points, I would like to add one more point about mentioning the presence of the Baby Feeding Zone.
Hygiene has been one of the important point always but now it is a prime focus for everyone due to the situation. we must always watch out for cleanliness in the places we visit and washrooms as well.
@Rohan10 thank you so much. I usually rely on reviews while visiting places sometimes reviews are incomplete (single word or sentence) or irrelevant. writing a detailed review helps a lot to give brief information about the place.

@PritishB thank you for adding up the point of feeding area, it is very helpful thing to note down, here in Mumbai we have feeding and nursing rooms for babies in Malls I will surely ad those points in new reviews
