I received this from a user, and promised to post it for him (and try to answer):
Here is a link to a local park on Google Maps. As you can see we can not claim this listing, suggest an edit, upload photos, or post reviews.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/YwdUZxgD4rXPkb459 (King George V Playing Fields)
Here is another park a few miles away that has all these features.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/6J8nyTkaYZxuL3J98 (Cheetham Park)
How can the first park be updated so it can have all these features?
Cheers

Dear user,
You mentioned you were unable to claim the King George park.
Claiming public parks should not be done by anyone except the real owners. In this case, it might be the municipality. Users of a park should not try to claim a public park. In the future, this might make it more difficult for the rightful owners to claim it and you probably don’t have an address and a phone number of the park, so you are unlikely to be able to claim the listing. And what would happen when you no longer feel this is “your” park, and what about other users, they might also feel they “own” the park. So claiming the park is not a good parh forward.
The King George park is what we call a geographic feature or an area colored green on Google Maps. Such pins look very much like a normal point of interest pin on Google Maps. We users can not make changes to such areas - only Google staff can do this. We an only suggest edits to normal pins. You may have noticed that the King George park is not represented by a normal pin - only the text.
Often other users will have noticed this before you. And they might have created a normal pin to share photos and reviews. I looked around and was not able to find such a duplicate pin. (I did add the playground though: https://maps.app.goo.gl/egqc3z12APnWvWs37)
This leaves us with the question: How can https://maps.app.goo.gl/YwdUZxgD4rXPkb459 be converted into a normal pin?
For this, you need help from Google Staff. The easiest way would be to seek help in the Maps support forum.
Hit the Community tab at the top and make a post. You will need to explain why you think this should be changed.
I know that @NareshDarji is also a volunteer on the Maps Support forum, and you might be lucky that he will be able to escalate this to the team from here.
Just hang on and wait for his reply.

Thanks Morten! We are a committee of volunteers who help run the park hence wanting to claim it so we can edit the details - such as the street address, which is incorrect. But also so that users can add photos and send reviews like on the Cheetham Park example.
I have seen duplicate pins on other parks and did consider doing this, but thought it would cause more issues with trying to remove the existing one. Here is an example of another local park (Stamford Park) with duplicate pins:
https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=15f8c5997f1624f4&tbs=lf:1,lf_ui:1&tbm=lcl&q=stamford+park+stalybridge&rflfq=1&num=10&ved=2ahUKEwiyxpuVyb-EAxWlXUEAHXgjB0EQtgN6BAgWEAI#rlfi=hd:;si:;mv:[[53.4880934,-2.069333],[53.4862895,-2.0728638]];tbs:lrf:!1m4!1u3!2m2!3m1!1e1!1m4!1u2!2m2!2m1!1e1!2m1!1e2!2m1!1e3!3sIAE,lf:1,lf_ui:1
I understand your point about not needing to own the listing for King George V Playing Fields, and if the park can be upgraded to a normal pin like you say, and this will give us an opportunity to suggest an edit to the address, and for other users to leave reviews and uplaod photos etc - that should be all we need!
Hopefully Naresh is able to help!

Hi user,
Please add the info needed to make the address correct, so this can be taken care of at the same time.
Thanks
Morten
Reply from the user:
The park has recently been issued a postcode by the Royal Mail hence wanting to update the listing on Google Maps to the official address.
The incorrect address on Google Maps is:
15A Ladbrooke Rd, Ashton-under-Lyne OL6 8JS
However, the correct address is:
Alexandra Road, Ashton-under-Lyne OL6 8LG
Please also note that there are approx 8 buildings in the park that are numbered 15A in Google Maps. This is wrong and based on the incorrect address. These should not be numbered.

Here is the answer from my friend:
Thanks for all your help Morten and Naresh.
The King George V Playing Fields listing was updated as you described.
We have now managed to successfully update the address of the park and move the location pin to reflect our new official postcode.
We are currently in the process of trying to get the 15A numbers removed from the buildings and I think one has already been removed.
I also asked one of the groups who use the park if they could post a review and upload photos of the park which they have.
The listing seems to work and looks like the Cheetham Park listing and has the same tabs and functionality which is great!
Thanks Naresh. Your help is greatly appreciated.

They sure intended to but their account got suspended or something so they can’t. I can assure you and @NareshDarji that they are thankful for all the assistance.
