How to identify and report fraud on Google Maps

That is easy. So far you did everything right by not linking to the profile who are spamming. On Monday one of the Moderators will contact you by private message with instructions on how to report this for investigation.

This person has garnered attention for their inappropriate behavior over on Reddit. The issues in question are well described in the Reddit link.

@ErmesT - let me know if I should have reported this another way? I can’t remember if this is correct…

There is a local guide, [REDACTED], that is posting reviews that are false. He posted false information on a local tanning salon. Now he has posted a review about a dinner buffet at a restaurant… the don’t even have a dinner buffet.

Please, note, that Google is very concerned about privacy, so you shouldn’t share personal information about local guides. I suggest you to edit your post and delete personal information.

Good Evening,

I attempted to follow the help article on reporting abuse from a Local Guide… but it did not allow the completion, since the final step does not allow the option to actually report a Local Guide (this help article could be revised for better use). After checking around with my Google My Business team members (I am a Gold PE), I was directed to make a thread here and await a private message from a CM, etc. for further assistance. Basically I have discovered a Level 6 Local Guide slinging bogus 3-star ratings at businesses with no actual interaction or reason other than to rack up Local Guide points.
