Well, I guess this will be my first tutorial in the Local Guides Connect forum, mind me if I violate any rules. So, today I posted a photo of Jonha Falls and one of the Moderator @DanniS asked me how did I clicked it with my phone and that’s how I came up with this article. I will try to keep it simple so that everyone can get it and I am pretty sure most of you might already know it ?
I used Snapseed editing app for this, you can use it too or if you get the concept try with some another app.
Step 1 - Open any Colorful image in Snapseed and apply any suitable Black and White Preset.
Step 4 - Once you do that, the photo will has red fog over it Click on the Down Arrow and make value 0, the zoom in the picture and remove the red fog from where you want to remove the effects of Black and White Preset.
Click on Photos and Videos, then Stylistic adjustments. Bullet 1:
Stylistic adjustments (such as applied filters) are acceptable, provided that these stylistic changes are minimal and are not appended elements such as borders, text, collaged images, etc.
Note the word MINIMAL.
PS: if you want to speak to anyone on connect, don’t forget to mention the person with @+ username. Then she/he will get notified and you are more likely to get a reply.
I have seen recommended that we should observe the same rules here on Connect. But it is certainly not enforced. And you have clearly explained how the manipulation was made. So I think you are okay. And you will be kindly asked to remove it if needed.
I just thought it was relevant to mention so other local guides don’t start sharing such photos on Google Maps.
Thanks for sharing these tips! I’m sure they will be very appreciated and I think this post will be more suitable in the Photography board, so I’ve moved it there. Cool edits for sure.
Do you use Snapseed a lot? What do you like most about it? Do you have a favorite feature?
Hi @DanniS thanks for the appreciation, Not often but yes I do use Snapseed. Not any particular feature but yes as discussed above every edit you make in Snapseed can be edited and masked for selective elements in photo which is not available in most of the apps, this is what I like most about Snapseed.
