How to go to this place? – I like this question when I know the answer. Also, it’s doubly nice when your interlocutor says “thank you” at the end of the conversation. I remember once upon a time one foreign traveler asked me about the location of one hotel. I didn’t know where it is so I asked to wait for a little while I get my phone from my pocket and look for this hotel. He was very surprised when he saw that I stopped riding my bike and started to search for this hotel on Google Maps. I found this hotel, showed him at the maps and he left me with huge gratitude. We both were happy.
Local Guides program means for me to help other people even without knowing them. I don’t need to wait when someone will ask me about any place or direction. Adding new places, correction information about places that I know and giving feedback about places where I have been. That’s nice to me when I know that somebody will use my contributions on maps and this makes me happy. It’s a strange feeling to explain, but I feel good when I help somebody to find a thing on the maps and I imagine that these persons say to me “thank you a lot”!
I love riding the bike, so I did some contributions to my like-minded fellow bikers. For example, in my home town, there are no many riders and I shared places were it possible to ride a bike. In this way, I hope I could help to raise the count of bike lovers in my local area.
Another reason why I’m a Local Guide is business purposes. I’ve added public photos of my employer companies and thousands of users viewed these photos. Or if these companies don’t have a page on Google Maps I created them.
So I think Google Maps is a very useful tool for business and private purposes and I will continue to participate in this program in the future.
