Hi there,
How to view/enable Satellite mode while “Check the facts” ?
Hello @AjjuR
You can do that on a desktop, conveniently.
Here is a screen shot.
Yes, there is a way to do that on the phone also.
Open maps.google.com in the phone browser. Then request a desktop site & then do the fact checking on the same lines of the desktop.
Nevertheless, that will create a lot of eye strain because of the small form factor.
However, I do not see any direct feasibility of getting a satellite mode in the app, directly.
Nevertheless, there is a workaround for that in the phone.
On the phone, set your default view to satellite.
Then during fact checking, select " View place details".
In the next screen, click on “Navigate”. Now you shall see the place with the marker in satellite mode.
Hi, @AjjuR
Actually you cannot switch to satellite view on mobile for “check the fact” and “uncover missing info”
You can suggest this improvement on Idea Exchange
Idea Exchange is the place where the Local Guides can write to Google for suggesting some improvement. For more information please read: How do I use the Idea Exchange and what happens to my ideas?
Thanks @C_T for your quick response. Actually I searching for mobile. However, the Team Google map must consider this point. We can’t carry our PC or laptop while checking the facts at the spot.

Thanks @ErmesT for your suggestion.

Hello @AjjuR
Although I answered your query, I am curios to know why do you wish to have a satellite mode in check the facts. Do you wish to seek an answer for “Does the place exist?” in the satellite mode?
Understand your point @AjjuR
However, if we wish to see a map during fact checking, its better to see a larger view. If not the phone, one can always carry a tablet or iPad to do so. Nevertheless, you need providing a reason for my query in the previous reply.

@C_T Thanks
You got it right. It has happened to me in past days when I tried to authenticate an edit, everything like name, category, website was correct, but the marker was found far from the actual place. If the satellite mode was, then this mistake could be avoided.

Yes, you can do that. Read my fina edited answer @AjjuR
Link is missing @AjjuR
Hello @AjjuR
The link doesn’t provide a reliable connection.
Nevertheless, I tried to replicate the scenario.
I changed the default view to satellite mode, then selected “Check the facts” & panned to Haldwani region.
Several POIs popped up as in the screen shot-below.
Then, on clicking the three dots, provided option “View place details”
Next I selected navigation & another nearby place from history.
The view is as below.
Thus, the DHFL home loan is standing in the middle of the road.
However, please note. The satellite imagery for our region is not of high resolution. This is because of the restrictions imposed by GOI. You may not get a detailed view for most of the places.
@C_T Thanks lot for digging out the issue. I will try my best to use alternate way to check the facts in Satellite view.
