Some places on maps seem to have an about field, but I cannot see this field when I edit the place

Hi @Joost1
If I remember correctly these are called feature texts in Google speak. You can try providing feedback in app or use the Maps support forum.
Hit the Community tap at the top and make a post suggesting a new text or explain what is wrong. Add links to official documentation if possible.
Cheers
Morten
Hii @Joost1
Just open the location which you want to edit. Than goto suggest edit
Change name or address. Than edit what is mention wrong their.
What you suggested is not correct. The about texts are not available for Local Guides to edit.
All the best
Morten
We are discussing if this text:
is available for edit to Local guides.
If you were able to edit this particular text this will be a new feature in Google Maps not yet available on my end.
All the best
Morten
Now I understand…
Tell me one thing Who are managing this this business they are able to edit about section or not??
I gave the answer already. Most of the featured text are added and can only be edited by Google Staff who can be reached via feedback in the App or via escalation by the experts on the Maps support forum.
I’m unsure if claimed owners can edit such texts. But I think they can. So if a place is claimed we can reach out to the owners and suggest edits to about texts
All the best
Morten
Hi, @Joost1 , @MortenCopenhagen .
If I’m not mistaken, this “About” is called “Business Description” (https://support.google.com/business/answer/3039617?hl=en&ref_topic=4854128#zippy=%2Cfrom-the-business ).
If I’m correct, only the business owner that could add an About/description to the POI.

Thx
My experience with trying to edit Featured text is from unclaimed tourist spots in Copenhagen. These can not be edited by LGs and no one had claimed the places. So there are most likely different answers depending on if the place is claimed or not.
Thanks for the link.
Morten
It depends of the location.
Scrolling down every business listing, at the very bottom you will find a link with the following text (in English, in my example): “About this data”.
Clicking on the link you will find a detailed explanation about how the data are sourced: How Google sources and uses information in local listings .
As you can read in there, the sources can vary, depending of several factors.
While a claimed business can edit the information directly, as explained by @iorikun301 , for other Listing the information are, when available, sourced directly from the web.
@iorikun301 No, that description is not “Business Description”. This is a very short well-curated description of a popular place under 100 characters set by Google Maps itself. A business owner cannot edit or add these short descriptions. From my experience, I have seen this description only in popular places with having a few hundreds or thousands of reviews.
So the take from here is, we cannot edit or add these descriptions as a local guide or even as a verified owner of a place.
Ah, yes, you’re right, @SaifIS . That’s not business description. I’ve seen here in the picture two description and details. I’ve thought they’re the same. Ah, stupid me!
Btw if you don’t mind, would you attach the source of your statement that it was a short 100 characters description by Google? Thanks
@iorikun301 I do not have any source of this statement. I have checked a few and found they are 95-98 characters. So I think Google Maps for wants to keep it under 100 characters.
Hi @Joost1 ,
Since you wrote in English, I just removed the language tag from your post. In the following article you can learn more about the topic: How do I find posts in my preferred language?
