How can I edit Google maps labelling of city name in local language. I am from Karnataka where my maps shows city names in my language (Kannada) most of the names written wrongly… I want to correct them… can someone help me how can I do it??

Hi @adibedur, thank you for coming forward with your problem.
If you know wrongly named places you can follow these instructions:
Open Google Maps → Make sure you’re signed in. In the top left, click Menu → Send feedback Edit the map → Follow the instructions. Translate Maps → Help us show Maps in other languages. Select the available languages. Vote or change the value. Click Submit.

Its valid for all the places because there is not any other way to edit the place on maps. @sushil_raghav

We local guides are not allowed to edit the name of village/cities. For that you can use send feedback option.

As indicated by @deepakjhic (Thank You), sending a feedback is the only option for informing Google Maps Team about errors in the Map.

@deepakjhic , @ErmesT I tried using sending a feedback but unfortunately I am not able to do what I want. Either I am missing something or this feature (send a feedback) is incomplete.
Now what I want to change is the name of area feature (place). The name in English is correct i.e. Talegaon Dabhade, Maharashtra. But it shows name in regional language (Marathi) as well and that is wrong.
Now following steps I have taken:

Select the place.

Menu - Send feedback.

Wrong Information
Now Google Maps software says, Click the place or road segments you want to fix.
But I don’t want to fix the place in Talegaon Dabhade or road segment. I want to change the name that appears in the map in regional language i.e. in Marathi.
Please help me. How to do this?

I’m currently unable to change or report the incorrect village name.
You can see screenshots of the village Name.So, how to change/edit it.
We are facing problems some offical work for the wrong Name.

@Bishnu_G Roads, roundabouts, intersections, circles, village, town, city, etc. and many other things are map layer elements and editing map layer element is not currently available to the Local Guides. But you can send to Maps team about a missing element. To send feedback read Steps to send us feedback

what do you mean exactly with “colony” name, a city / town name?
If that’s correct you cannot enter that information as that’s part of the base map data, however if you find any error you can report it by right click (on desktop) or hold the point (on mobile) and use the “report a data problem” option to report an incorrect information, see screen below.
The report will be evaluated by the Google Maps team and corrected if the provided report found to be legitimate.

As @LuigiZ already mentioned, you can Report an Error on the Map.
Please keep in mind that, there are certain items in Google Maps that you cannot edit and these include landmarks, established points-of-interests, names of a city/township, roads, squares, rivers, and more. Only Google can edit these. The other thing you can do is to send feedback and suggest what changes can be made on Google Maps:
Please follow these steps:
- Click the Google Maps App menu ☰
- Click Send feedback => choose Missing road or report Wrong information
- Follow the instructions and fill in the information as detailed as possible
- Click Submit

Bonjour ! Nouvelle sur Local Guides Connect, il y a une erreur dans Google Map sur le nom de notre ville puisqu’il y a eu un regroupement municipal et que cette dernière a changé de nom. Après plusieurs tentatives, impossible de mettre le bon nom de ville. Est-ce que quelqu’un peut m’aider ?

Hello, you can’t edit a city name.
Nevertheless, you can take the following two actions.
Select the “Help & Feedback” option. Next, select the place which you want to “fix” & then inform the required change.
(To reach that option, click on the profile icon in the new user interface or click on the hamburger icon in the old one.)
Additionally, provide adequate details here in connect post & tag a moderator. That will expedite the required change.
