A local business just emailed me and asked me to delete an old storefront photo because they moved. It is from October 2022, and scrolling down on my photo contribution list with 22K photos is not realistic. Even on desktop it takes forever to scroll down and often my scrolling gets disturbed, and I will need to start over from the top…
I have now spent over an hour trying to delete this photo.
I remotely remember a method to delete our own photos from the place sheet, but I can’t find it now. I tried on Desktop and on Android to no avail.
If you know which company it is, your comment will appear at the top when you search the website and log in to Google. You can delete the photo from there. You can ask for the name of the place where you made the comment when they contact you.
When you log out of Google, the system determines which comment will appear at the top. As a level 7 local guide, 95% of my comments are at the top. After you comment, the system ranks you according to whether you are a guide or not and the content of the comment.
It worked. I have no idea why I did not see that. Proabably because I only looked under “All” and not “By you”. It was super easy to find my pic under “All” because it was the coverphoto, so there was no need to use “By you”.
We sometimes include photos in comments. You can delete a photo you’ve shared by editing your comment. If you added the photo to Google Maps in a different way, it will be a bit of a hassle when you want to remove it.
