Hi all,
I have tried many times but failed to add or update the layout of my local town and sectors within it. I want to correct them so that people looking for an address nearby should not be fooled or misguided by maps incorrect layout. I don’t who created them but it seriously needs to be corrected. To be specific my town has 19 sectors in total and they too have sub-sectors within them divided into different divisions. So each of them should be correctly laid out on the maps. I found another such post which is this. But nobody has responded on that so I decided to create a new one.
If anybody knows about how to do this, please guide. It would really help much to improve google maps.

Hi @Garg_Saab Local Guides cannot do this. While this sort of information generally comes from official government sources you can influence the timeliness of an update by sending your opinion via feedback within Maps App.

I am also trying to modify sectors of my area for benefit of travellers/cab drivers but I am not able to do so. Please do inform me when you learn how to do it.

Thank you so much for responding to this query. I understand that this is not under local guide bounds but it would have been great if the guides could do it because most local guides know their areas well. So they could help much to improve the maps with the correct layout of sectors and districts. Sometimes, it irritates me when maps show incorrect boundaries of a particular area and I even tried with whatever possible tools we have in maps currently but failed. I wish we could have this power someday.

Glad you liked this query. It signifies that many local guides are facing this issue but as per Paul … this power is not in our hands.

Dear Sir I think there used to be an option for area modification a few years ago. But now I am not getting that option. There are so many demarcations which are inaccurate but I am unable to modify them (Sector Baoundaries, Village boundaries). Is there a forum where atleast I can upload jpegs of my proposed changes for perusal of higher level local guides ?

And I hope many local guides want to improve maps by mapping the correct layout of the areas they are aware of. I hope Connect moderators like @PaulPavlinovich and other team members start thinking about this seriously which will help improve Google maps ultimately.

@Garg_Saab people entrusted with editing the Map base via an editing tool known as Map Maker used to have this kind of ability. While many were good at the craft of map creation, unfortunately there were both bad actors and incompetent actors who created bad data of various kinds. Gradually the Map Maker features have come into the Local Guides world for us to enjoy. I fully understand and support that Google are doing this carefully and slowly. So many people in the world depend on Google Maps in their everyday lives its very important that the data is as good as it can be. There is always a delicate balance between cloud sourcing and data quality. The best path forward for you is to send feedback about the Map data via the App.

Dear Sirs,
I found it very unfortunate that there is no review or suggest edit option on sectors. For example, https://goo.gl/maps/94HvxZ3AWh62 is wrong and I want to point to relevant editors that the area of the sector is marked wrong. But there is no way to do that. Neither can I edit it myself. This is leading to confusion to drivers who use google maps. How will google maps work if the very system of peer-review/ edit suggestions will go way ?
Can I edit it if I become a higher level guide ?
