How to correct street names when Google Maps systematically rejects the report?

I have tried several times to correct the information of multiples street names that are wrong in maps. Everytime my requests got rejected, and I don’t have any other way to report Google Maps that those streets are completely wrong (besides the link for correcting the name, I also tried to just contact them with similar results).

For instance, this is one of the streets that has its name wrong:

According to Google Maps the name of the street is “Provisional Atalayuela Diez”, but that is not its real name. The real and official name for this street is Isla de Guam, as you can check using the official street names map from the local authorities:

Indeed, you can check the official listings from the local municipality website, where they have it in a convenient and updated CSV file with the official names for each street, their coordinates, and other relevant information.

I tried several times to provide this information to Google Maps. But the streets are still with the wrong name. And what bothers me a bit, is that after trying several times, all my updates and new places contributions to maps are being rejected by default (see my other post about that topic).

However, the most important thing is that the information on maps should be correct and accurate. But still, I cannot stop thinking that the reason behind rejecting my requests to add new places and make corrections to other places is because I tried too hard to get these streets corrected. Of course, the area is still under construction, but the streets have already official names, and those should be the ones listed on maps, not the wrong ones.

PS: I may sound a bit pissed off about this, and I really am. In recent weeks I witnessed a lot of mapbombing (it got even in our national news) and vandalism on maps. And still, it is harder to correct the information about some wrong street names than to create fake places with fake reviews, or even worst, mapbomb places with fake reviews, or make fake claims (I’m aware of at least one local convenience store that had suffered fake ownership claims these past months, several times).

Hi @humitsec

Did you try fixing the road in the Google Maps app for Android?

Such data issues are better dealt with in the Maps support forum.

Hit the Community tap at the top and make a post. You need to attach or link to official documentation supporting the change you are proposing.

Cheers

Yes I already tried both using my desktop computer, and my android devices, with the same results.

I’ll try the Maps support forum, and hopefully these streets will get their correct names.

Thanks!

Excellent post

I have had similar challenges and have since given up on changing street names as well as location names
