Hi everyone,
From my experience, I’ve noticed that a perpendicular connection is generally more accepted than a diagonal one, as you can see in the picture.
What has been your experience with this?

Hi everyone,

Sorry, I don’t understand exactly what you mean.
Roads should be drawn one road at a time.
The road you showed lover left might not actually be a road but just some tractor tracks on the farmers fields.
Sometimes a road splits forming a small triangle to allow less sharp turns. If visible on the arial photo this should be reflected in the roads you draw.
You cannot select the angle as it needs to follow what is seen on the arial image.
Hi,
Please ignore the road on the left side of the screen and focus on the one running from the top to the bottom. As you can see, the first segment coming from the top is not aligned with the real road — it’s slightly displaced.
Now, if you want to continue drawing toward the bottom of the screen, you have two options:
Connect the upper segment back to the real road using a diagonal segment, or
Create a 90-degree (perpendicular) connection before continuing to draw the lower segment.
I hope that’s clear.
Google has not approved my diagonal edits since 08/2025 but has accepted my perpendicular segments. It might be accepted for other reasons, but from my experience trying many times in different places, perpendicular connections are more consistently approved.
Best regards,
Port.
Arhh, now I think I understand your question.
As I understand, Google is still very much focused on adding roads, so trying to move the existing line to better follow the road is highly likely to get rejected.
I think I would ease the new section to make a smooth transition.
But I think @WilfriedB or @ErmesT can guide you better than I can. Hopefully, they have time to help you.
Thanks for the tag and the confidence @MortenCopenhagen.
Not sure, I can help, but I can add some observations @Port. Your screenshot reminds me to two of my cases. I am not sure, the almost perpendicular connection made it more likely to be accepted, but at least for two roads, I was never able to draw the triangle correctly, even though it is clearly visible on the satellite picture:
I believe, Google considers the map showing the intersection detailed enough. In the same area, which I know personally, I was able to add many roads and agriculture paths (defined as biking/walking paths), but was never able to correct the shape of any.
It also took me a long time to declare the “road” (on my screenshot leading to the east), is not accessible for normal cars, which new guests frequently used as a shortcut and got stuck in the fields.
I cannot add roads/streets on a map..may U instruct me some techniques.
Dear @Ramadhani_Kijazi ,
I have checked your profile. 0 road added.
I wish you all the luck. And I am sure you are in the wright place to start and be master.
There are many post in this forum that will help you to start, please just search and narrow you search by tags how to and road map. You can also search YouTube. Adding map on computer is preferred than mobile for me. And its quite easy.
Best wishes

Hi,
Somebody modify the road in the last picture yesterday.
for his info google will not approve it!
I have done the same thing six months ago and learn not to modify any road as it will not be accepted in addition you can’t add any road to a modified road.
I am sure he doesn’t know this info, but I hope he learn it now.
Best Wishes.

Not aware of a policy, but I’ve had a few recent experiences where the diagonal line wouldn’t connect, and I had to go perpendicular.
