All the way back when I was a contributor for Google Street maps, I added a 360 view of The Reach Museum’s stage. This photo was snapped the day before the official open of the museum.

The photo has over a million views. But I added a location within The Reach Musuem - Hanford Reach Interpretive Center Amphitheater which is more descriptive of the location.

There is also a second performance space called ‘The Solar Stage’ located on the museum’s grounds which I also have some of the inaugural photos that should be transferred over to the new location.

Can I request that my original photos be moved over to the new location?

Hi @CavemanSavant
Normal flat photos can be moved if you delete them first and then upload them again. But you will lose all views. Don’t forget to back them up as the very first thing if you don’t have a copy elsewhere.
In the Street View app you can edit the location of your 360 spheres. And you might keep the views. I’m not sure, so please make a test with a sphere with a lot fewer views first. And please let us know what your test shows.
Cheers
Morten
Thank you @MortenCopenhagen
I don’t want to lose the location’s views. The photo (360 view) is one of the 1st photos of the location and one of my 1st contributions.
If I can use the Street View app can I suggest or assign the photos to the new Google maps location that I just created?

Yes you can, @CavemanSavant .
But there might be a few days delay before it shows up when searching for it in the Street View app. But please make a test first.
Cheers

Photos cannot be moved in either flat or 360 once they are uploaded and assigned to a location @CavemanSavant as @MortenCopenhagen said the only thing you can do is remove the image and upload it again to the correct place.
It is good to make it right even though you will lose views because uploading photos to the wrong place is against the rules Local Guides Program Terms and Conditions and you’ll find more information under the Maps User Contributed Content Policy https://support.google.com/contributionpolicy/answer/7422880 no-one is likely to be concerned about an accident but please do make it right.

I may let it go if Google can’t change it. I don’t have a stored copy to upload. The image is still helpful as a guide to the museum.
@PaulPavlinovich , thank you for your comment and guidance again.
I don’t see this as an issue of uploading the image to the wrong location. The location was brand new (I think I created it on Maps) and added the image as such. But the location has continued to grow and evolve. The stages now serve as destinations in their own right. That wasn’t the case back then.
I know something is possible …
On January 15th of this year. The location was changed to ‘Richland Public Facilities District’. All the associated photos was listed as RPFD. ‘RPFD’ isn’t accurate since the district encompasses several locations. I contacted a fellow city commissioner about the location name change.
On the 25th of January the location name was changed to ‘REACH Musuem’.
Perhaps the location owner has to petition the changes.

Thanks, @PaulPavlinovich
@CavemanSavant if you start reporting/flagging a photo on desktop, then the image will be shown in the highest possible resolution available on Google Maps. That is a trick to recover photos should you not have a backup.

It is very true that Maps entries can become more specific or get additional entries added over time and perhaps one of those newer entries can become more relevant so it would be nice to be able to move content but unfortunately currently we cannot. I would suggest raising it as an idea but that’s been done and the answer was no but feel free to vote on the existing idea. I don’t want to falsely get your hopes up @CavemanSavant
Out of interest you can always download your own images, its a bit painful and a lot of data to sift through but you can do it at https://takeout.google.com/ for both Maps in general and Street View. Make sure you’ve got plenty of space free in Google Drive before you make the request because that is where the output ends up.
For verified places, yes the owner can alter the place and it certainly is possible to merge content across two places which can look like a move when it isn’t really. That might be a thing you could consider, if the place you added and the newer place really are the same then you could attempt to merge them in Maps.
You could if you like take it up at the Maps Support Community https://support.google.com/maps/community but I expect you’ll get the same answer but I’ve been surprised before so you should give it a try. Let us know what happens here when you get an answer as it helps us to answer future questions.
@PaulPavlinovich , @MortenCopenhagen
I figured out a simple solution.
After adding in the location, I just did what a Google Local Guide should do …
I just went out this morning and shot a new picture.
https://goo.gl/maps/iaxJQkDbite58jxD9
I’m also contacting the site owners to alert them of the new location addition. They have been very responsive in the past. The original (360 Street Maps) photo I will leave in place. It gets a lot of views because I think it may be used withing a website or in-museum-kiosk.
Thanks you so much for helping me figure out a solution. I’ll let you know how my actions work out.

Well done @CavemanSavant it is an interesting looking structure. Have you considered shooting the other way with the sun behind you? You will get more blue in the sky and avoid the lens flare artefacts (the pink plume and the grey streak on the left) in your images.

Thank you @PaulPavlinovich
The Solar Stage is part of a larger project.
https://www.tri-cityherald.com/news/local/article32072031.html
“The arches of the Solar Stage represent the Sun. On the Summer and Winter Solstice they cast a shadow that aligns perfectly with the concrete base at noon, local time, PCT. After dark, the arches are illuminated, creating a wonderful glow around the REACH.”
I choose the shot. I wanted to capture the Columbia River in the background along with The Real Sun.
If I shot from the other perspective I would gotten the museum’s building itself

I have a long personal history with all the performance stages in my home-town.
These locations should be highlighted as their own destinations.
@CavemanSavant Places used as a performing arts theatre can be added to Maps - “Performing Arts Theater” is a valid category under Attractions & entertainment.
