How to Add Youtube Video in My LGC Post

I have seen many posts where YouTube video screen appears in the post, but when I tried to add it it just got published as plain text. Next time I tried linking the youtube video to it and then it juat appeared as a linked text.

How do I add youtube video to my post?

Embedding a YouTube video on a post is possible on desktop version only, @Kavita1

Using that version, you will see a small icons near the “insert a photo” command. Clicking on the “insert a video” button, a pop-up appears, where to paste the link.

As an option (not easy to manage but possible) if you are on Android with Chrome, you can switch on mobile to “desktop mode”. This mode will allow you to insert a video

@Kavita1 We cannot upload a video here in LGC instead you can say we embed the video here. To embed video follow the instruction below.

  • Click on Video option - screenshot
  • Then paste the video link on the box - screenshot
  • Click on preview,
  • Select Video size
  • Select Video Alignment
  • Click on Insert video

That’s it. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much @ErmesT , I have never used Local Guides Connect on Desktop so I was completely unaware of the option. Now I will try to use it on desktop mode if I need to upload a video.

Thanks again

I could not find any button to insert a video using the desktop version. I checked on Opera as well as Chrome browsers. Can you share a screenshot of the button? I am on WIndows laptop.

You are referring to a reply that is 6 years old, @delhifundos , and based to a different platform.
In the new Connect platform, where we moved last year, you just need to paste the link to the video on your post , like I’m doing here

To check if the video is displayed you just need to tap the preview button, just below the editing area.
Here below a screenshot of this reply with the “preview” section activated
