Hi,
Does anybody has a solution for adding subtitles to uploaded pictures in Google maps via Desktop (Mac) or iPhone App? (I don´t upload to pics on Google, just within maps). There used to be an option when uploading pictures to reviews, but currently it seems be off.
Thx for any useful help.

Hi @StephanFink
Welcome to Connect.
Let me try to understand your issue.
Are you able to upload photos to a review?
In English the term Caption is often used for Subtitles. A new form of captions was introduced a few months back, but I trust you mean the old captions belonging to a photo as seen below:
This screenshot is from my android phone. The arrow shows the icon used to type in a caption.
I will check on my Iphone and comeback should I find a way to add such captions from there.
Cheers

I’m back, @StephanFink
I don’t think it is possible to add captions to photos from desktop (mac or PC).
This is a screenshot from my iPhone. Open the photo from your photo contribution list and tap the 3-dots menu icon. Then select Edit caption.
I don’t think this is possible when you open your photo from the place’s page.

One last tip, @StephanFink
When in doubt if a feature is available on all or only some of the three platforms, you just need to find the relevant Google Maps help page and read between the lines. If a feature is available on all platforms there might be some tabs to choose from: Android, Computer, and IOS. Other times it is mentioned that “on android…” this is their indirect way to admitting that the feature is not (yet) available on the other two platforms.

Hi again @MortenCopenhagen -the above option (i used it for my discription) but changes the title and it´s only available on the phone, but it´s doesn´t deliver “subtiltes”.

@MortenCopenhagen I researched that before, but … even between th lines …
I presume, that one has to use Google-Photos to access this option, it´s all about collecting qualified data
Thx for your help.

Nope, Google Photos is not involved in this, @StephanFink

Mobile: It looks like an additional title, i used that several 100 times, but in the stats I have only 5 subtitels mentioned (i presume generated via the abovementioned option at the reviews). On the desktop you see just my “new title” for the place in the full picture view)

It would be very helpful if you would always use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply. Just hitting Reply does not ensure we get notified by email.
The captions points are for the new kind of captions that can be added only from the Explore tab (or directly from the place sheets). Please see https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/General-Discussion/All-About-CAPTIONS/m-p/3675967
Points were never given for the old kind of captions.
