I would like to know, how a new road can be added in google map.

I have shared 2 post below on how to add roads on mobile and desktop.
On mobile you need to follow these steps.
Click on contribute
Next
Update Road
Next
Missing Road
Next use the point of cursor + provided to draw your road.
Next
Add point
Add what kind of roads it is e.g
Local Road
Main Road
Car park
Cycle/walking trail
Next
Submit.
N.B it shows you that you have earned 15points. Mind you that the 15 points comes after the road/roads have been approved. The approval time varies alot. You might have a long wait especially if you are a first timer on roads.
On a Desktop please start by clicking on the 3 hamburger like sign on
Then the next as shown in the photo below

please click done and of course add what kind of road it is as explained before on adding roads on mobile.

I’ve added a new road in the past. I know the road exists. I’ve travelled on it several times. I also work for a municipal streets department. Why then when I put it in and it gets reviewed is it denied? Makes no sense!

Very true @Rick_A
It’s not deliberate mind you. It’s most the AI. I have added thousands of roads so I know that some legitimate roads have been denied.
Sometimes you need to be regular. We have a Virtual meet-up on roads soon. You could try to attend if possible and if you are free.
