Hi fellow local guides. My name is Natalie and I live in Perth, Western Australia. I recently went to a local enclosed dog park with my dog Jack and I noticed that although the park next to the enclosed dog park was on the map, the enclosed dog park was not. I had never added a place to Google Maps before, but I thought it needed to be recognised as a seperate entity as other dog parks in the area are recognised in this way. I also wanted to help other dog loving people in my local area as when you search for dog parks this one was not showing on the map.
So here is how I did it.
First I went and took as many informative photos of the area that I could. This included all signs and fittings and fixtures in the area. Oh and most importantly, I made sure my phone settings where allowing Google Maps to see my location.
I then clicked onto Google Maps on my phone and clicked on the menu button on the top left side of the screen and selected “Add a missing place”.
I then filled out as much information as I could about the place including a phone number for the local city council who is responsible for the park and also a link to the local city council’s webpage which explained the original proposal for the construction of the park in 2017.
I then added my informative photos and submitted my add.
I very quickly received a confirmation from Google Maps that they were reviewing my add. And I waited with fingers crossed.
Approximately 24 hours later I received confirmation that my add was successful.
