How to add a lake on the map ?

Hi LGs,

I’d like to know how to add a lake on the map, for exemple here :

Do I have to create a place like I do for shops/POIs ?

Hi @MapsWithLulu ,

So answering your query. First you don’t need to create a place like you do for businesses etc. There is no way to add lakes by your own but you can send feedback to google maps team.

Here the procedure to do so(through app)-

  1. Open the google maps app.

  2. Click on the three lines icon on the left

  3. Now scroll down and click on help from where a new page will open and the last click on Send Feedback.

  4. You can add screenshots with marking the area around and with detailed information about it… and send it…

The google maps team will verify it first and if your information is found correct then they will add the lake to the maps.

Hi @MapsWithLulu

As @AnshukMitra said, towns, roads, squares, rivers, lakes, mountains, are elements of the Map Layer. Local Guides cannot edit that layer. Only Google Maps team can.

What we can do, for helping the team, is to report an error on Google Maps, through the “send a feedback” that you will find scrolling down your menu on Google Maps.

I’ll mark @AnshukMitra 's comment as an Accepted Solution because as he and @ErmesT have explained to you, only the Google Maps team can add rivers, lakes, towns and etc. and if you want the lake to be added to the map you have to send feedback following the provided steps.
