I submitted my upcoming meet-up “Reclaiming Our Digital Space: Community Power Against Harassment” 4 days ago, but it’s still pending approval. Normally, if something is missing or needs to be changed, I expect to see a message from Google asking for edits. But this time, I haven’t received any reply or update.
From my understanding, we need to submit a meet-up at least 5 days before the event date to make sure it gets approved in time. I’m now a bit concerned because my event is getting close, and I don’t know how many days Google usually needs to review and approve meet-ups.
I’d like to ask other Local Guides:
• How long does it usually take for your meet-ups to be approved?
• Have you ever faced a case where it stayed pending without feedback?
And to @Googlers
• Is there a reason why some meet-ups stay pending without any notification?
• Is there a clear guideline on how many days in advance we should submit so it gets approved in time?
We plan to move the in-person meet-up to September 6, but right now we can’t do anything on edit because it’s already past 5 days. The event is still pending approval, and there’s no option for me to update the date. Can Googlers please help with this?
Thank you @KamalHossenR for sharing. I see your post is about supporting dengue patients through Google Maps, which is great work for the community. But my question here is more specific about how long it usually takes for a meet-up to be approved on Connect.
Do you have experience on the approval timeline for events?
Hi @SophatCHY I have also faced long pending approvals for my meet-ups but it’s hardly last for 3 days. Sometimes when I submit any meet-up on Friday, if Saturday it’s been approved then it’s okay but if not then on Monday surely it got approved.
This 3 days approval time is very rare for me as most of my meet-ups get approved in between 30 minutes to 3 hours.
Your case seems to be something unique as you didn’t get any reply for this and only 2 days left now. I haven’t faced this condition ever. Let’s hope for the best.
@SophatCHY It took me three days to get a meetup approved because of weekend. But in your case since it’s been four days, I hope the Google moderators can give you a good solution to your problem.
Thank you, @Shaunak and @KamalHossenR, for sharing your timelines. Good to know most approvals take 30 minutes to 3 hours, and sometimes up to 3 days on weekends.
My case is different: it’s day 4 with no moderator message. Because meet-ups must be submitted 5 days before, the edit option is now locked, so I can’t change the date.
Could a Googler/moderator please review this or advise the correct rescheduling step when a meet-up is still pending but the 5-day edit window has passed? If I should cancel and recreate, please confirm. Thanks.
Hi @SophatCHY , make sure to submit your meet-up at least 5 working days before the event (weekend excluded)
Personally, especially if the meet-up is in-person, I suggest also to consider some day for organization of the logistics.
Thank you @ErmesT for clarifying. In this case, I submitted my meet-up 6 days before the event date (so more than 5 working days). That’s why I’m a bit confused.
My question is not only about the 5-day rule but also about how long Googlers usually take to check/review once the meet-up is submitted.
It has already been 4 days, with only 2 days left, but still no approval or suggestions. From my past experience, usually within 1 day I get either approval or a message if something is missing.
This time I haven’t received any update at all, so I just want to understand if there’s a delay in the review process. Thanks.
So you mean that you submitted the meet-up on Thursday 28th, right @SophatCHY ?
If so, Google will review the meet-up before tomorrow evening, New York time (GMT-4).
Up to 5 days. It can be very fast (one day or so) but we should keep in mind that the Googlers that moderate/manage Connect are also busy with more activities (moderation, preparation of official posts, spam checking, etc.) so that a meet-up may be approved in one or up to five working days.
As the five days aren’t passed, I don’t see a delay yet.
Thank you, @ErmesT, for the clarification. Yes, I submitted it on Thursday, the 28th. That means tomorrow (Monday in the U.S., New York time, GMT-4) will be the fifth working day, so hopefully, Google will review it then.
When Local Guides create a meet-up on Connect, a pop-up notification appears on the screen, which says that it can take up to 5 business days for the meet-up to be reviewed. In our meet-up guidelines, we also ask hosts to submit their event at least 5 business days in advance.
We aim to review meet-ups as quickly as possible (keep in mind that meet-ups aren’t checked on Saturdays and Sundays), but sometimes it may take longer, depending on the content of the meet-up and if changes need to be requested.
Regarding the meet-up submission you mentioned in your post, please note that we’ve responded to you privately about it.
Thank you for the question, and I hope this helps!
