How is the Global lockdown affecting your ability to explore new places

Hello Guys,

My name is Ruth Tilley Gyado, I live in one of the most serene places in Nigeria. That is Jo’s, Plateau State. The city of Jos is majorly rocky and this goes for majority of the villages within the vicinity.

This makes Jos cooler than all the other cities in Nigeria, and the scene is out of this world.

Because of the lockdown I cant go out and explore more beautiful places around me but I look forward to doing so as soon life returns to normal.

Let me know where you live and how you are faring.

Hi, I am from Kerala, India. I was a regular visitor in Jos some 40 years ago. I liked that place out of all places in Nigeria. I am so eager to know the present situation there.

Hello Ruth. My name is Sotonye Allwell-Brown. I live in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria. However, I grew up in Lagos State, the financial capital of Nigeria. Just before the lockdown in Nigeria, I decided to leave Abuja for Lagos in order to spend the lockdown period with family. I used to have some pride whenever I received a notification informing me about my consecutive weeks of being active as a Local Guide. Since the lockdown, I have woefully failed to meet up with my usual activities. Today, the lockdown has been slightly lifted with key focus shifted to maintaining Social Distance & adorning a Face Masks. I still have not returned to my usual activities. There is a silent skepticism about the reduction in the virus’s ability to grow. This has led to a voluntary stay-at-home for some of us. Ofcourse I will eventually have to step out (probably when normal activities resume). Perhaps the only way out of the dilemma we are in is by building Herd Immunity. I don’t have the luxury of exploring this option since I’m currently with family in Lagos. I will be devasted if I became the spreader to my family. For this reason, I will stay at home & only consider being part of the Herd Immunity when I return to my base in Abuja. It is at this point my activities as a Local Guide would get back to normal.

oh hello, I am glad you were able to visit and enjoy the beautiful city of Jos.

As of right now, we are on total lockdown except for those who offer essential services but the city will be open from friday through sunday for everyone to restock on groceries and lockdown commences again on Monday.

This will be our routine for now till things change. And as you know, Jos is a beautiful city and staying indoors is a total waste :see_no_evil:

Personally I cant wait for things to get back to normal. Keep me posted cos I love hearing from you.

Hello Sotonye, it is a great pleasure to connect here. Yeah! I agree with you we don’t want to be the ones to spread the disease to our loved ones so better to abide by the rules for now till things get better.

I am super excited cos Abuja is another beautiful city in Nigeria that the beauty has not really been explored. But as soon you get please share some pictures with us.

Don’t stop writing, let’s keep each other updated.

I agree with you Ruth. I’ve always wanted to visit Jos. Not had the opportunity yet. I will eventually visit and very soon.

I have shared a couple of images of Abuja to Google map. I have quite a collection of sights in Abuja.

You should come to Jos, it is a very interesting place. Besides the sights and sounds the people are very homely and friendly.

Their culture is not too different from what you find in and around Abuja though. But the scenes are everything you imagined.

Be safe!!!
